Default weird Billy Idol

My idle does not want to stay still, kinda like Billy Idol's lip snare. I have a 86 740 non-turbo.

During a cold start it will idle up to 1,100 or so like it should. After a minute or so it cranks up to 1,500. then will back down to 900 or so after a few minutes. Once in gear, it is an auto, it is fine and stays with in Volvo mandated idle.

So, A\C relay? If i could fine the hiding bastard?

Idle control valve? Should I Blast it?

Thanks!!

Have you tired to pickup the signal from David Bowie's nipple antennas?

But anyway, Year make and model?

Hey there,

I'm no authority but hopefully this will get things going at the least.

Yeah cleaning the IAC is easy so I would, and if nothing else you get some gunk out of it. And pulling the fuse to stop the a/c from kicking on would let you rule that out or not. Probably other ways to test but.

Maybe check out the tps and a quick throttle body cleaning.

Hopefully others will have more experienced advise but it could be a variety of things
