Yeah I thought so too. If it'll need time and $$$ to be usable, it won't bum me out much considering I got the head and the intake manifold (the one I reprinted and am currently using) both for $20. I just don't have a lot of time or money to commit to head work at the moment.

Seems like most of my updates usually start with something about how busy I am and how I haven't had much time to work on the car, and unfortunately this update is the same. But oh well, such is life. Overtime every week, my girlfriend's birthday, my dad's birthday, my boss lost at sea treading water for 23 hours with no life jacket before being rescued, and several other things have gotten in the way and taken precedence on my one day off each week. But in the two months since my last update, I have done a few things.

First of all, I picked up a set of ecodes from a buddy of mine. No corners, and one of the lenses is cracked and has been fixed. I had a spare set of US headlight assemblies here, so for the time being I clipped the glass ecode lenses onto the US housings, and they're a hell of an improvement. Not sure if I'll try to run them properly in the future or switch back to my stock lights, but for now I'm just enjoying how clear they are.

After that, I picked up a momo hub from eBay and an aftermarket wheel from a friend.

And my solution to the SRS light always being on since the airbag was removed:

This wheel was okay, felt comfortable in my hands, but it was small and blocked the top of my gauges, so I wanted something a bit bigger. Did some shopping around, and I decided to get one from Grip Royal.

I ended up going with the Royal Classic wood grain wheel. I'm really happy I went with this one, it goes with the interior pretty well and the color is just phenomenal.

Great looking wheel!

Careful with the woodgrain in direct sun light though. Too much exposure can cause the wood to crack underneath the paint. I've been using a window visor regularly for when I park my car outside in the afternoons.

Thanks for the heads up! I was curious if extended periods of direct sunlight exposure would be a problem considering it's always parked outside, so I will definitely pick a sun visor up.

So instead of buying a sun visor, I picked up a quick release adapter to try out. It's pretty nifty, it locks in place and holds the wheel super tight, no play in it at all. When I park in the sun I usually just pop it off and stick it under the back of the passenger seat in the shade, or bring it inside with me. Also comes in handy for changing clothes in the driver seat and for doing any interior dash work. Just a few days ago I swapped windshield wiper stalks in about 10 minutes with the wheel out of the way.

Then last monday, I picked up (most of) an entire black interior swap. I'll be picking up the remaining few parts within the next couple of days. A local buddy of mine was rear ended in his 945 and is parting it out, so I snagged the interior. He also gave me his 2 month old master cylinder and a skid plate as well. It's in much better shape than the dead hooker blood red interior I have now. While I do appreciate having an uncommon interior color, it's also quite dirty, and I've always really liked black interiors in general. I haven't decided if I'm going to do all black or keep certain red accent pieces, especially to compliment the steering wheel, but I'll figure that out later.

Everything but the carpet, headliner and door panels.

Got started swapping a few of the lower dash pieces, the center console and the rear seats the other day. (Notice the steering wheel conveniently out of the way).

Also picked this IPD triple gauge pod up from another member on here, and I was given a Volvo 5 bar oil pressure gauge for free from another local guy. Just need to source a sender to get it working.

I was also given an MSD blaster 2 coil for free from the same guy, which works great. Then a couple weeks ago I cut out the cat and welded in a piece of pipe in it's place so it was basically open downpipe to a side exit exhaust. If I had my foot to the floor it sounded amazing, but just regular daily driving it was obnoxiously loud, especially if there was a car or a tall curb to my right. So I had a thrush muffler welded it it's place for the time being, until I have the money for a proper exhaust done over the axle.

Oh and Saturday I removed the 15g from the vband forward and replaced it with the 16t I've had sitting on the shelf for a few months now. I haven't had time to get a downpipe made up for either the angled or straight flanges, so it's just in the conical housing for now. The 15g was whining more and it was blowing oil out the outlet into the intercooler, so I figured I'd just remedy that for now with the 16t and then take care of the better turbine housing and downpipe later on, along with a better exhaust.

Other than that, everything is going to be put on hold for a bit considering the fact that I'm leaving the country for 10 days on Friday. Going to visit some family in Ireland and head to London for a couple days too.

Also went to the drag strip this past Friday.

Right lane is me.

Got 3 runs in, best of the night was 15.916. First time ever at a drag strip, so I didn't really launch at all and my reaction times were horrible. However, it's a good benchmark for the 13c at 13psi before I put the 15g on.

So that's everything up till now, stay tuned for another post within the next couple weeks when I get this new snail and all these other parts on!

my 13C @ 18psi / brown tops gave me a 14.65 @ 89mph :p

it spikes at 18 time to time but runs at 15psi normally

that night at the track i got 14.65 when it spiked at 18 and the rest was high 14's low 15's when i was hitting 15psi

Sweet, how much was the quick release? Doesn't look too shabby!

It was only $30, from eBay. I can get you a link for the exact one if you want. Figured I'd give it a shot and if it's not something I'd feel safe using, I could always return it. The diameter of the holes to mount the adapter to the momo hub were about 1mm too small so I had to drill them out slightly for the screws to line up and thread in properly. But other than that it mounts on solid and locks in tight, no play whatsoever.

One of the few before pics I've dug up:

Got most of the interior done. Front seats from the donor car were worse than mine, so I'm just going to keep an eye out for some black 940 or 960 seats. Other than that all that's needed are a couple pieces in the back that were damaged from the donor car, and to reupholster the headliner and install it. I plan to keep the middle section of the dash red as an accent piece with the steering wheel. Passenger a-pillar and red door handle inserts have been switched to black since the pics were taken.

Really nice looking wagon! I like the interior a lot! the middle section of the dash and the steering wheel match very well. Keep up the good work sir!

Thanks a bunch!

My issue with the quick release with that wheel, is the distance the turn signals are from my fingers. The wheel design already moves the wheel further away as it is.

Yeah I can attest to this. I had been looking into some other wheels with 3" of dish but decided to give this one a try, and I'm glad I did because I couldn't imagine the wheel being another inch or so away from the stalks. They're a bit of a reach away, definitely more than stock but not enough to annoy me.
