So I was taking off the oil pump on one of my spare b230 blocks and in order to get one of the bolts off I had the flex a piece of black pipe Judy to the side of it and low and behold it snapped, note I can't find what it actually did in any manual and I can't find any replacement, anyone know what it is and how screwed I am

Pretty much. You'll need to remove the clamp that's on one of the oil pump bolts (unless it's already off) and fish the hose down next to a casting in the block that helps hold it in place. Align the key on the flanged end of the hose with the notch in the breather box. Clean the breather box and replace the o-ring between the box and the block while you're in there.
