77 244 Going for Junkyard TB Glory

Car is still not all back together. Need a front bumper. But I have been working on some performance upgrades. New axle with a true trac. I have several set of gear to choose from. 3.54, 3.73, and 4.10. I also have a getrag that I'm swapping in now.

I think I got the 3.54 from the diesel 240.

Does my thread have a 3 stars because people don't like the car, or me, or the actual build?

Dang Brandon.....didn't know you had a build thread. Nice work.

To confirm Brandon does live in the salvage yards. I Drove straight from work one day to pull some white injectors that were in a S70 T5 at one of the KC PNPs. Didn't have time to drive home for tools, it was a recent car in the yard and just knew someone would beat me to those injectors. Just hoped that someone there would have the torx and 10mm to get at the injectors.

Who do I see walking into the yard at the same time as me? Hey Brandon!

I haven't updated in a while I guess. Back in March I dynod the car and it made 243 whp and was pinging. Also fighting with sensor sync issues.

Spent the summer working on the car and started with a brand new engine harness. Cleared up all the issues with the sensor. Also added an NPR IC, snow performance meth kit, and upgraded the FPR from the 3 bar to 3.8.

Took it again today and it made a whole 249 hp. Injector duty cycle maxed out. So it looks like I need a new fuel pump. Maybe the AEM 340LPH?

//edit

This was the second dyno run after adding bigger injectors and the meth injection.

Any pics of the front end repair? Did you have to pull the left frame rail back out, or did replacement nose sheet metal all align OK as it was?

Great build, BTW. What injectors are in there? Have you monitored line pressure?

Definitely resolve the knock ASAP - I've melted several sets of (cast and forged) pistons due to timing issues at high output :(

Drove 300 miles on this set, didn't want to get towed long distance. 1 quart oil every 50 miles did the trick

I replaced the fenders and other panels for the core support. It took some body hammering to get the inner fenders straight enough to get it bolted together. There's still a lot of alignment issues. The hood is way off and you can tell. But it's close enough that I can shut the hood and still have all the sheet metal in place.

Right now I have S70 white injectors. But with the duty cycle being maxed out with 3 and 3.8 bar FPR I know I'm out of fuel fuel pump.

I don't have any knocking. But the tune was setup so that I don't overboost or have too much timing that there's risk of that. It's tuned pretty safely for my setup.

Those S70 injectors aren't big enough. Your fuel pumps are fine to another 80 or so WHP so long as you install some decent quality wiring.

This is what I'd do if I were you:

1. Build a new fuel pump harness with good 12 AWG copper wiring (https://www.wirebarn.com/ sells decent TXL wire for cheap)
2. Put a 3 bar FPR back on
3. Put some decent injectors in (https://yoshifab.com/store/siemens-deka-60lb-injector.html)

This is the single early k-jet pump though. I ordered an AEM pump. I have S60R green injectors too. I'll run new wire for the new pump as well.
