New project for the old man- a baby blue 1981 242 I picked up today. MikeJr., Mark, Brett and I ran across town and picked up a car at Volvotista, a shop run by yet another Volvo Mike. He had this car for some time and we struck a deal, so I finally got it.
Mike Jr. Strapping it down:

But, Brett had to have some TIG fun:

back at Jr.'s to pressure wash it.

Nice and clean!

Rear view with tiny faux carbon fiber lip visible on decklid.

Gotta clean up that engine bay!

Gotta make room for this:

GM L33 from a 2006 Denali. Only 42k miles,5.3L, all aluminum V-8

And... Has 243 heads, like Corvette.

10:1 c.r., rated 310 hp.

Thanks to MikeJr., Brett, and Mark for help loading and unloading.
(Ignore Mark pointing to more faux carbon fiber- it's coming off!)

I have followed Hackster and 55SuperBeetle's threads closely.

Plans are for Megasquirt, GM 700-R4 tranny, short bumpers, flat hood and white 18"Pegs.

As soon as pops gets the 700R4 we'll bolt it up, throw it in there, and start fabbing up the mounts. His plan is to have it ready by SE, but he didn't specify which SE.

Should be fun.

90mm throttle body:

Fitting the GM performance windage tray and pickup tube.

comparison of stock truck oil pan and GM performance pan. Nearly two inches more sump clearance forward and 1&1/2" vertically.

Thanks to Joe at Bulldog Musclecars for putting me onto this pan.

L33's are animals they share so much with the ls more than the reg 5.3's.. I remember i dynoed my truck back in the day 278whp and 302rwtq and they are also very rev happy have fun.
