![]() Yeah you might not ever have any issues at all with just the two bolts, and even if you did it would only take a small weld to correct it. No way to tell I guess until you do a little trial and error with it.

![]() Thanks, man. I think a T5 would work stock, but any kind of power adder would crunch it.

![]() 242gt - what flywheel/clutch/pressure plate did you use to accept the T5 input shaft? I'm going with a built T5 as well. 60 lbs. lighter than the T56, much smaller physically, and about 30HP more efficient behind a 350HP V8. And let's face it - with 430HP/410 lb-ft of torque moving 2950 lbs and the ability to select gear ratios on the 5 speed, the 6th gear isn't necessary.

![]() Some new update pics: The Moose is back!
![]() Jr. did a lot of work today. Motor in its final centered position. ![]() Cut crossmember: ![]() Surgery on the hump: T5 shifter on the T56. ![]() looks good from this angle! ![]() Nice! ![]() The solenoid is the biggest clearance issue. ![]() Centered in the tunnel. ![]() The crossmember has to be notched more for installation than for clearance. ![]() ![]() looks good! ![]() This is all Jr.'s work. Many thanks, son Updated with pics refreshed. Cat was walking on the keyboard. Last edited by MikeSr.; 09-10-2012 at 10:38 AM.. Reason: pics missing? |

![]() This week we should get the starter and alternator, and a custom bracket for PS pump. The mounts and crossmember should be finished next weekend. Then we will be ready for the driveshaft. Ls-1 intake on the way, also. Lots of loose ends to finish- wiring, fuel, MS, cooling,a/c, etc.
Needs moar wideband, too. |

![]() looks good! a few pics wont work for me though. did the pan come close top clearing? looks like extra was cut. does it sit above the crossmember? when i had my cut member i wanted to leave the bottom peice as a skid plate and tie that into the knotch when i welded it up.

![]() Nice build! I have a LT1 Volvo 264 with 4L60E but I have a T56 in the garage. Interesting to se how you managed to fit the T56 in your car. I started to fiddle with the T56 hydraulics yesterday and found out that it will be to much work to make the chevy system fit the Volvo 240/260.
Have you put any thoughts into the hydraulics? I would like to find a master cylinder with reservoir that fit the volvo bulkhead plate and is the correct size for the t56 slave. ![]() /Hakan |

![]() hako - hackster's daily driver is a 5.3L LS motor with a T56. He easily fabbed up a hydraulic cylinder mounted beside the brake unit, a bit of welding on the pedal assembly and it operates a hydraulic throwout bearing I believe. Pretty straightforward. Let me see if I can find the link.

![]() I made some new weld tabs for the motor mount brackets. We had bought some but I didn't think they were big enough so I made these.
![]() I decided to use the stock gm motor mount plates to weld to for the bracket. It was thick enough, and all the holes were already there. ![]() I got the transmission mocked up. Its where I want it, but I'm not real happy with the spacers. I will make a one piece spacer that goes across the mount. Don't mind the stack of washers. The finished product will look a lot better. ![]() Still need to box the crossmember. ![]() Putting the motor just were we want it. Scissor jacks are a must for doing something like this. Also notice how far the Hummer pan stick down past the crossmember. Not to bad is it? We can work with that. The pan is very close to the sway bar though. We will probably space the sway bar down a bit, or get a drop bar from ipd. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dead centered ![]() Cuttin like a boss ![]() ![]() We also scored a NOS flat hood too! ![]() ![]() Motor mount weld tabs tacked in place ![]() Markin sh*t like a boss ![]() ![]() Notchin by hand like a boss ![]() Trial fit ![]() Welding like a b... ah you get the point ![]() ![]() ![]() Hello ![]() Pretty much done. Don't mind the doo doo welds they are functional. The final product will look a lot better. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by MikeJr.; 09-30-2012 at 09:32 PM.. |

![]() I would put a backing plate on the "frame rail" unless you trust just the 16g rails to hold it. I'd be afraid of stress cracks

![]() When you get to the Header Side of things, I have some custom Volvo LS conversion extreme block hugger headers for the P1800/Amazon, which were re-configured to fit in the compact early Volvo body work with no mods, and can be lifted in and out with jacking the motor..
Pictured are the older mock up pics, but production has started on the headers, which are being mass produced exclusively for us by Sanderson Headers. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Iamtheonlyreal1; 10-01-2012 at 11:31 AM.. |
