Default Lamda Sond switch

I am doing the clock to tach swap and removed the instrument cluster out of my 82 244.

There was a switch that had a connection to the speedo (similar to the regular speedo cable) along with two red wires.

My understanding is that this was for the Lamda Sond switch which is supposed to periodically remind a person to replace the O2 sensor?

My question - can I omit the Lamda Sond switch when I re-install the instrument cluster without any drivability issues or warning lamp?

Thanks.
