![]() Yeah me too, I was doing it so I could drop it off to be painted eventually if it turned out to be rough !

![]() ![]() I cleaned up the old plastidip covered headlamps - they were really clean underneath so happy to have some spares - they have a plain black piece instead of the reflector - presumably off a DL? I realised that I had to lacquer the various bits to keep the grease off them - handy having a basketball hoop - perfect spray rig! ![]() Got my oil filter relocation kit - still haven't re-tried removing the old one yet - Was thinking I'd like to get the car started and up to temp with some oil/ engine cleaner in there first, then dump it out and then attach my new fancy remote oil filter kit! ![]() And yes I'm getting it because the stock location sucks ikea meat balls, I'm used to a w124 and it's a piece of cake by comparison. The tedious little bits I'm enjoying a lot - Cheap therapy after burning my eyes out on a laptop all day ! ![]() I'm trying to think of waht to do with the wheels - two are black and two silver original, I'm thinking of a few different things. 1. Gunmetal - but it's a bit dark on the grey car ![]() 2. Darker centre - reminds me of what people did with amg pentas in the 80's ![]() Nice wheels to whoever threw those images online btw! Failing that I'd love a set of mesh something or others but I'm not cutting the body/fenders for fitment - benz is done like that and it's not for me! If anyone wants some 5x5 rims hit me up! They're et 14 and I do not have adapters but they sure look pretty! ![]() |

![]() ![]() Re-did the pressure test - got to 75 psi then the gas started hissing past the old crush washers - supposed to have a set coming from Mk1 AutoHaus but I'm pretty confident my pressures are ok, hopefully, they arrive soon. So in the meantime, I started looking at the intercooler charge pipes and I didn't like the look of them! ![]() Let's just say it was a pain in the rear, I didn't go mad into the polishing - just a test of concept - I'll eventually go to town once I have a bench grinder I can put a polishing wheel on, this was all done with a harbor freight dremel, a brass wirewheeling, some 600 grit and polish. ![]() ![]() A good 10 foot job, don't look too close! ![]() Tomorrow, Oil I got for free from a neighour - great as I'll be dumping it shortly after I start it up and run some engine cleaner through. |

![]() So I couldn't help myself, now I need spacers but given that I paid what I'd have paid for a set of tyres / paint for the virgos I'm happy enough.
Hopefully I can shift the chevy wheels soon to get the right spacers to make them fill those arches and away from the fiddly bits |

![]() I almost never name cars unless it's Bessie, every car I've had is called that, and for no good reason. Since this car looks pretty but loves sitting I'm naming her "sitting pretty."
I'm going to have to keep tipping along at the body/interior restoration myself but man I'm burnt out on the mechanicals. I'm looking for a decent Volvo mechanic/specialist in the Dallas area to get her running. I'll do one more sweep but I'd just love to drive it at this stage. So if anyone has any recommendations or a fellow turbobricker who knows what they're about, please reach out. It's easier to earn the money than spend the time at present! In the meantime - beauty shots - setting these up for before and afters of when I repaint the black trim and apply the beltline kit! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And don't worry ![]() |

![]() ![]() I love it when stuff you ordered a while ago comes in to brighten the day! Finally located the correct coolant bottle strap ![]() ![]() Had to buy the owners manuals too - all unused too which is nice to have. ![]() ![]() And yes one of the hood hinges just isn't sitting down properly! |

![]() Let me know how you get on / how you manage to fix that hood hinge? I replaced a hinge recently and the hood doesn't sit down - looks EXACTLY like yours.

![]() So some AliExpress happens to us all occasionally, fit quite nicely, the power adapter needs an original cover plate trimmed out to fit well. The zombie light fits perfectly in the empty slot.
The last pic is the reason the project spend is on hold at the min. 6-8k of flipping dental work, that's with insurance. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() I love it when bits you ordered weeks back arrive by the door.
Gt strut braces and a mudflap, the adapters are on backorder right now I've been polishing the intercooler pipess, not trying for show car grade but kinda meet the level of the rest of the car! Finding it difficult to get out to work on it since the decent weather kicked back on in Texas! Much more craic driving around in the Benz... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
