Yey.. did some welding the last couple of days.. MainCage is almost finished, will post some pics after the weekend... now i want to do some stiffening braces and have a nice plan:

Hole through firewall, weld patch on strutower and brace the patch to the mainframebar --> stiff front to improve this, you can do a triangle out of it... Problem is.. you can't weld down there :(

Anyone has ideas ?

Maincage done... now the Mounting.. And you can see the problem i have with the mainhoop.. normally there should be an X in there.. but now can just make a horitontal bar cause of the seat... i hope this is legal.. The X will move back in the back where 2 hoops go to the wheelhousings..

Because wideism...

I Really like these rims.. bam...

Checked with the DMSB handbook.. seems legit what im Doing here.. the Crosssection can be done in the rear section to the wheels housings of the cage...

So i did just a crossbrace in the Mainframe to not interfere with the seat...

Is that the only cross are you making another for the seatbelts?

you need your main hoop triangulated.

Nope.. no way.. im too tall.. the seat will interfere with the leftupper diagonal strut.

I Know triangles would be best here but the leveled strut must be enough.. the cross will be integrated in the rear sections as mentioned.. but i checked that with the DMSB today.. it is allowed to do it like me for tall drivers.

The belts will get a mounted on the chassisarc over the axle or i will do a star instead of a cross where i can mount them... i will post some pics tomorrow to show you what i i'm talking about...

You need some triangulation. Would a brace from the lower left of the hoop at the horizontal bar to the upper right corner fit?

Some Pics:

That was my Masterplan at first...

These braces i have to add cause A=>20cm But i need to make them removable or i won't be able to install the dash..

Due to my Seat sticking throgh the mainhoop i can't make a cross in it so i am able to move it to the rear section what will look like this...

So i just have this in the mainhoop:

For the sideprotection i think i won't do a crosssection but this:

Cause i have to merge it with the A-Pillar strut and getting out will be much easier with this..

(Taken from the DMSB Handbook)

Cool project, but if you're not going to diagonally brace your main hoop at least do yourself a favor and mount a proper harness bar on the main hoop, much closer to the harness pass-thru holes in the seat. Kick it back if you have to with two bends to clear the seat. Mounting the harness all the way down by the floor is asking for a spinal compression injury.

Some diagrams and further reading here: http://www.jegs.com/instructions/471...essinstall.pdf

Thx for your concerns about my health and security

I will fit a horizontal bar into the rear cross...

...will look like a Star then.. Thats definately within the 45-55° Rule. The pic you are referring to was just a mockup

@ smokey.. hehe yeah.. maybe i should just wipe those numbers ;)

So.. when i have the back of the car at the desired ride height i have ~11" between the Trailingarmmounting and the Framemounting.

The front got 550lbs 8".. what would you use? Whats the theoretical compression on a 10" spring with 500lbs? Or is it better using a 8 or 9" spring cause between that 11" i have to fit also the coilover hardware and the springseat..?
