At the risk of counting my chickens before they hatch, this is also happening.

Finally got around to picking up the car today... Depending on the weather, I'm planning on dropping the motor in tomorrow.

Might as well. It's already there, and my header has a 3" collector.

Any updates? I just picked up a b21 powered '83 242 today, so I'm REALLY curious to get your input on the carb set-up! :D

Well, it's still sitting on the stand in the garage. I've been busy with Eamonn's partout, a weekend meet, and some work crap.

I want to get the motor and trans in the car this week, and I don't see why I couldn't. There's some wiring cleanup to be done in the bay, and it's also going to get a repaint before dropping this motor in.

I'll message you.

I did snag the wheels for the car this weekend. Wound up trading some parts for them, and they came with hub- and wheel-centric adapters.

Two have been cleaned up/polished, two still need some help. I'll have to repaint the centers to match. Should be fun. There are some minor nicks on the lips, but nothing crazy.

Good snag on the wheels! Now that I'm back into a 2-series chassis, I'm regretting selling my set that I'd refinished last summer. Oh well, live and learn..lol

How much of a pain in the ass was it? Did you blast the centers or did you chemically strip them? I'm a little anxious about blasting the centers because I'm sure I'd tear up the polished lip in short order.

Just clean them and paint them. Once you start removing paint you'll have to get all of it and it'll be a bastard.

Chemically stripped them, and it worked really well. I actually bought aerosol cans of stripper from Lowes. My wheels were originally black and some idiot had tried spray painting them white, so there were at least 2 layers of paint on them. Chemical stripper and some steel brushes, along with a pressure washer, took it down to bare aluminum. From there, I primed them, then painted them. Also both via aerosol cans that I had mixed up at a local paint supply store.

This is what I started with (and this was the cleanest/best of the four.)

Any updates on the carb set-up? I'm getting really tired of trying to make the lh 2.0 in my newly acquired '83 242 run, so I'm REALLY curious to hear your thoughts on the Chin-ebers (see what I did there? )

Child's play compared to converting to carbs, and getting it running right.

It's not perfect, but it looks pretty good for a rattle can job. Probably won't hold up, but whatever. Maybe I'll get the motor in this week.
