Strut brace is installed




In my accident, the splash pan was damaged from being torn off by the curb. So I've fixed that up with some zip ties
Good as new








I'd been getting a wee bit of wheel rub in the back...




So I bought a cheap fender roller and rolled my rear fenders


Also one short cruise away from 300k.

Default Intake box and chipped

Did a bit of work the last couple weekends
Finally got the Cold air intake box I made in the summer installed

I bought some door edge guard to put over the sharp edges of the sheet metal. thought it was an effective solution to protecting the paint is spots that it rubs while making it look a little more professional.





Installed




After driving around with it, there is very noticeable difference in temperature between inside and outside of the box. It may not be the best looking, but it does the job. And I'm happy with that.

I've got some intercooler piping and will be buying a smaller intake so that I can mount the filter a little lower in the bay. At the moment its sorta crammed in there.

Also mounted an oil catch can to the box...My current tubing is a little sketchy but will work until I get something proper. Ignore the kinks...





Received a tuned Chip set from Simon (Sbabbs) and got that installed in a spare ECU and EZK so that I could keep the stock ones from the car unmolested, in case I messed something up.





After about 15 mins of idling and an hour of driving I have yet to notice much increase in power, but the engine certainly starts, runs and accelerates much smoother. So just for that I'd say it was worth while.

Have you raised the boost level? Chip alone aren't going to increase the power output of engine.

Yeah, its at 12-15psi. I've had it like that for a little over a year

Was driving down the highway, when all of a sudden my brakes started sounding like truck engine brakes.

Got off at the next exit and just as I was slowing down to pull over my front right wheel locked up.
Guess one of my caliper bolts came loose
Also the force of the wheels locking up ruined the base of my coilover... gonna be a month before I can get a replacement part for that.

That seems to be when it breaks the worst

All things considered I got pretty lucky here. If that wheel had locked up while I was still on the highway... Definitely wouldn't have been pretty

Still haven't completely decided what Manual trans I'm putting in this thing next year. But I picked up this M46 today with the pedal assembly out of a 740.

Default Goals for the Next Year

Because I'm in a northern climate and I don't have a garage to work on my car, its come time to put work on the car on hold until spring. I'm going to be using the winter to plan and gather parts for the work I would like to accomplish on the car next year.

Current Performance Upgrade Goals +Necessary Maintenance
  • Manual Transmission

    This is the #1 thing I want to do with the car right now. I can't stand the auto transmission. Also its starting to make unhealthy noises and the O/D does not appear to be working anymore.
    I also want to get a manual trans in before I start to decide how much more power I want to go for. I feel I'll be able to get better use and have more fun with my current power.

    I really want to go the CD009 route, but I'm hesitant on putting that much money into the car
    I have an M46 I could put in, but that will likely get grenaded quick
    So its likely going to be between a T5 and a CD009

  • SS brake lines (Current ones are probably original to the car and a little cracky)
  • Shim Valves (Never did this after my turbo cam install )
  • AFR Gauge (I've bought an AEM UEGO, just need to install. Hoping to do it with a down pipe upgrade)
  • Hunt down the source of an oil leak. (I feel it might just be a clogged flame trap)
  • Replace dried/crusty hoses
  • Bigger downpipe + maybe full exhaust (If I can pull it off myself with my crappy MIG)
  • Bigger intercooler
  • Adjustable Cam gear (I read somewhere that this may not be necessary on my car.. Anyone?)

Maintenance and things to fix
  • Sunroof
  • Fix rear wiper
  • Power Antennae (Don't actually listen to the radio, but I like being able to put the antennae up and down)
  • Replace passenger door pocket (Already have replacement)
  • Wing (I've got an 850 and a 960 wing, Just need to choose which one)
  • Clean up headlights/Fog lights (Ecodes maybe?)
  • Matching 960 drivers side Taillight
  • New front seats (I would like to find some more modern maybe lighter front seats that are in better shape than the current ones)
  • Sub woofer + improved speakers

I'll likely update these lists as I come up with more stuff
