Default CL '96 960 cream puff

Been awhile as the big bird of happiness dumped severely on me last year.

Difficult for me to do much more than add fuel but improving still. Needed a ''non needing work''
dependable beastie sooo CL here we come.

Ohh yeaa... like I was born last night... 3 days later still there. Well sheeeet, long distance isnt
there any more and the phone actually had a human answer.

1996 Volvo 960, silver with gray leather interior
condition: like new
cylinders: 6 cylinders
fuel: gas (regular)

Asked the usual questions and my blood started to race faster the longer we chatted. ~30 miles away and made an appointment for the next day. Early and got to watch him drive up. Honestly just about lost my cookies, the GOOD ones, as he stopped. 42 degrees and I started to sweat as I approached this dream. 1/4 panel by 1/4 panel; engine front sides fluids, trunk and a quick fine tooth of the cabin.

My doc told me 5 days later that the blood blisters i gave myself will fade in time .....

Ok, gotta have a blown motor or or or. Instant start with nooo motor quiver, quiet looked and even smelled good. Reached for the throttle with more assurance and yes revved to ~4k and down like she was fresh off the dyno.

Around the block I drove ... naked baby butt smooth. And to make her perfect found both her flaws, Rt pass rear back side wall headliner needs re-gluing. Both front seat console side seat motors are inop.

Did the deed in my bank lobby and drove my new car home.

The carfax confirmed mind blower: odometer: 45054. 1st time around !!!! Ever been in a 20 yr old car with true new car smell ?? I own one.

My Gods gave me the exact gift I needed I reckon as a thank you for not dying on the table any of the times I was there last year. Already did a minor road run tranny in E. Yep, no issue at 45+ thru a 30mph true posted curve or 6. She only wants to give give give to an owner who will love her like the 1st piece in high school.

Pics to follow. So extremely glad to post this

Nice. You've got what's called "the creampuff high". Are you sure the power seat motors are dead? A lot of times the cable housings just need to be trimmed to fully engage. Obviously check to make sure the rails are clear too.

Check this video.\/

"the creampuff high" is soooo deserved. She is beyond incredible.

Seats moving forward and back is the only issue found so far.

Just bought a PERFECT '92 MBz 190E with 41K original old-man miles, to replace the '95 965 I bought 10 years ago with 60K on it. Still a damn good 240K mile wagon, much too nice to part out.
Same $4K, then and now.
Always been lucky.

These are great cars if and only if you get a good one. I've had good luck with the 3 I've owned. Great road cars with decent power. unfortunately about 2 weeks ago my '96 suffered an over heat and now I'm searching for an engine or a replacement 960. Happened while wife was driving and I haven't found why it lost coolant to begin with, it's cooked. She feels terrible. I cant see not getting another 960, so the search is on. The 740 still trudges right along, but it's not the same.

Enjoy your new ride.

The gifts just continue.

Finally got around to pulling up the Michelin page to find I have 60K tires with bout 5K on them

Was referred to a down on his luck detail guy.
Did a good wash/clean/vac ect.

Setting up for a full detail including engine bay for $50.

Around town average without the engine bay is $75

Don't want to burst your bubble, but you might want to think about a T-belt replacement since that rubber band is now about 21 years old. Should be a 75K mile interval on that year I think, but I don't know how age factors into the equation. 960s are great cars-I've had 3. I've done heads (because of busted belts-I bought them that way) on a couple and it is not fun...or cheap.
