You can't really wrap the collector area where it usually cracks, so it's just the runners you're wrapping. 1 and 4 are easy. 2 and 3 not so much. get the narrow heat wrap if you do it, it will fit better around the curves in 2 and 3. I think mine was 1", 1/2" wide would have worked better.
I don't know if there was any performance increase. I was going for cooler under hood temps. I've still got work to do, but the turbo system isn't quite trouble free yet so I haven't finished wrapping and shielding yet to know if it made a noticeable difference.
