4/27-28/2013 - Davis 2013

EXACTLY where is the auto-X?
Last year I drove around the base for over an hour & never found you guys.
Got stopped twice by the police asking where I was going since I was obviously lost.
How about a map with a big "X"

I think we had an address posted up last year.

Last year's spot was hands down the best, but it looks like we'll probably be at the spot we were at the first year...the EVOC course. I still have to confirm with Mark but once I have solid info I'll post it up and get a map and such up as well.

I had a hard time finding it also, even with the address. A map'd be tres bueno, to mix metaphors or sumpin'

What happened to not have last year's?

I think they said they're doing runway maintenance or something that day. IIRC it wasn't our fault, just a timing issue.

Either way, pretty much anywhere on the base is muy bueno.

I hope there's different surfaces, always makes for an interesting course when halfway through a corner the road surface changes.

Yup, different surfaces most likely.

Due to a change of command at the base, last year's site is no longer available for any autox use.

Oh. Boo.

Well the first year's spot was still good, plus we even had plenty of room that we *didn't* use as part of the course so I'm sure we'll have plenty of space for whatever kind of course they devise. Though I definitely like the more technical tracks. Hopefully (and this is a big "hopefully" at this point unfortunately) I'll be reimbursed the money I'm owed with enough time before the event to give my suspension the proper overhaul (read: sprangs) it needs to be a little more competitive and sporty for the autoX.

Race promoters up there SUCK Pat! Eric may be there with a car so now you guys would have had a chance for a run-off, since you, Kyle, and Plowery already had your runs. :-P

Hopefully I can baby the trans along and be a little more competitive this year with the baby turbo on the car...should know by this afternoon....

Looking like no Volvo so far. Looked at 3 240s, all roached out so I passed. Going look at an 83 242 tomorrow so it's still a maybe. But I will be there with or without Volvo conveyance.

Got one big project done on the wagon, one more big one to reveal at the autox, haven't done anything on the 140 for this year though.

Pre-reg is now open as well on the facebook site, dunno for those not on FB. Hopefully Justin will chime in?

Hi Everyone,

Lots of posts about trouble finding the 2012 Auto-X location-- I'm sorry to hear you had so much trouble finding the spot. :-(

I did make a driving direction/turn-by-turn map for the 2012 Auto-X location from East-Bound and West-Bound HWY 50 as seen here:
https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=204434252242194614676.0004be743539b2726d61f&msa=0&ll=38.565348,-121.313524&spn=0.035233,0.084543
Fully explorable with zoom, street view, search, etc.
Did you have something else in mind that would be more helpful?

I will make a similar map for the 2013 Auto-X location once the location is confirmed, but given these recent posts would appreciate some feedback to make sure a the 2013 map would be beneficial.

If you used the 2012 Auto-X map as linked above, please let me know if you found it helpful or confusing and if you have any suggestions for improvement. webmaster at sacvolvoclub dot org

And, if you ever have trouble finding the specific information you are looking for in these forum posts, please refer to the chapter websites directly as they will have all the most up-to-date-information you need about the events as well as contact information for event coordinators.

Looking forward to seeing you all again on April 27th and 28th!

Take care,
Elizabeth / volvie!

That's a good map, Since this has kind of turned in to the "official" davis thread hopefully Lanny updates the first post with this year's map.

Or, have one of yous from the VCOA make a new official thread so you guys can just update the info yourselves.

I think having a map like that for the AutoX with plenty of time before the event so people can get it will be good though.

I don't have a problem updating the original post. But I also don't have a problem with somebody else starting an "official" thread, should that actually happen.

We'll see what happens, very possible I'll be there in a 1985 244ti M46
