Vancity Volvos

Cool, but none of those are in Vancouver...?

Not sure if this was directed at me, but...

I've posted a few Volvos in this thread, all spotted in Vancouver
proper. Strathcona has the nicest Volvos.

The silly Maserati was spotted in Port Moody, but that is still
Metro Vancouver.

If your complaint is about the Port Moody car, let me remind you
that Park Royal is not in Vancouver either.

Not you, it was the guy who's post has been deleted by Capt. Bondo. It was right above that post of mine you quoted. I know what Port Moody is and it is Metro Vancouver. :)

haha yeah, for sure.

Does this one count too? LOL

Selling for a friend. I guess these could fit on 940s as well? I don't have a lot of details but if you have questions, I can ask him for you. It appears to be pretty nice, the rear bumper sags a bit in the middle but I think that could be corrected fairly easily.

Asking $500 OBO

Located in Vancouver, BC. Prefer not to ship (cough cough local guys) but can be arranged

So do you vancouver guys ever have any meets? I'd like to meet some other local volvo owners... coming from the VW community this is quite a change...

There are meets.

Every few years two or three people will get together and talk quietly about volvos. Afterwards they never speak of it again. No evidence is ever found.

That is the Vancouver way.

No, no, meets happen when people see another modded Volvo drive by them at intersections.

Oh good, that didn't make much sense to me. So Bondo's been
taking out the trash again. Now there's a local turbobricker I'd
like to meet.

I've met Gabalmighty a few times, he briefly dated my
step-daughter a couple years ago. I enjoyed giving him
girlfriends-dad **** about how slammed his GLT was. Pretty cool
guy for a kid ;). Lives a few doors down from the little girl's
school. Maybe he'll get his 242 turbo running soon.

I've met lordhelmet, bought parts from him twice via Craigslist.
Very nice, and good to deal with, I'd love to see his wagon...

I met ermit71 when he came by to pick up an extra leather shift
boot. Cool guy, showed me his very nice wagon, with fresh T5
installed, and was nice enough to compliment my wagon. Mark is
his neighbour, another bricker with a (V8) wagon I'd love to
check out (I might have seen frigidaire once, but I'm not sure).

I've also spotted B-rod, saw him pulling out of the Canadian
Tire the other day in his (also very nice) wagon. He was totally
rubbernecking my silver 242. I saw his 240 in his driveway the
other day, he is about the same distance from me as I am from
Gab. He and Gab are about the same distance from each other.
It's a tri-cities Volvo triangle.

There should be more lower mainland meets. I'm kinda toying with
the idea of dragging the barbeque out to the front street and
hosting one this summer...

^lol

There's also the Cates Park meet put on by the Volvo Club of BC.

You guys are also welcome at any of the meets in WA or OR as well. Just depends on if you want to drive 2.5 hours to get to Seattle or not.

The Puget Sound VCOA site is here: http://www.psvcoa.org

I've missed that two years running, unfortunately. Last year it
was at the end of a heck of a week, and I couldn't muster the
will to get out there, even though I had intended to bring all
three 240s. This year I'll make my best effort to make it.

I'm sure I saw some local vintage stuff returning from it that
afternoon. (Some good vintage Volvo iron around here.)

Heh. For sure. As far as Canada goes, we are particularly blessed with an
abundance of RWD Volvos here.

Oh, and I snapped this in late September in Strathcona:

All blacked out, and done fairly well.

Was on Craigslist that year, did want... Wonder who's driving it now.

Ha, I see him at one of the sites for work fairly regularly. Younger Caucasian fellow drives it. Modded exhaust also.

Met Capt. Bondo once at Mark's (as in username "Mark) along with amargill19?, adrianpike, NotSoFresh and my buddy project242.

Met the infamous GrandmaSideways a while back, also with GabAlmighty once. Met Double02 double times :-)lol:). skylinegtr and B-Rod more often. ZoomSpeed at Cates Park this year (my first).

Yeah, we need more meets. I think a bunch of us are meeting on Saturday at an IKEA. Or I'm just having coffee with my friends and distributing those 8V Turbo shirts. :grrr:

...and I'm supposed to be doing an assignment, but I'm bored. :grrr:

This is a really great shot:

Why does he ziptie the license plate to the bumper/air dam,
instead of using the pretapped holes in the commando bumper? Is
it 'because turbobricks'? If so, it must be a lurker.

Which Ikea? What time? It's not a good day for me, but a Volvo
parade to Richmond or Coquitlam could be in the cards, just maybe.

Any more t-shirts? I seem to have missed that thread.

And, screw assignments, I'm supposed to be asleep.

Oh, and as for grandmaSideways, I resisted his stuff on
craigslist. I wound up with a set of his wheels anyway.
They came with a parts 940 I bought from a third party that had
bought the wheels from Brett.

Small world.

We get Calgary guys driving to IPD every year, or other year- no excuses for peeps in the lower mainland not to make it to some NW meets!

I've tried to get Volvo guys out to some meets on Thursday nights. A local BMW forum has their meets that night and I can't manage two meets a week, so I figured party-crashing Volvos would be the next best thing. The success rate has been pretty low, aside from Kardboard.
