Pot is supposed to turn between two stops - "all on" and "all off". If it turns freely it's probably broken.

Post in the Wanted forum and someone can sell you a working one. Should be <$20.

Alternatively pick up a "SPST" (basic on/off) toggle switch with 1/4" spade terminals (Digikey, local hardware/electronics store, etc) and install it in place of the pot. Should be straightforward but may require a bit of ingenuity or drilling if the hole is too big/small for it.

Found one on eBay for $15, so I'll do that. Will let you know how it turns out! Thanks so much for the help!

Got it today. Does it matter what wires I connect to what pins?

There's only two pins, right? Then no, you can hook it up in either direction. Hope the replacement works!

Well.. didn't work. I tested the old one too just cause, nothing. The new one was tested.

The lights when I touched the wires were dim. Using the dimmer nothing happens.

Bulbs?

Has anyone here done the LED mod? That might be worth it to do since the bulbs if that's the issue need to be replaced.
