I foresee this radiator hose being a problem later on. I bet the belt cuts into it at some point. The radiator really needs to slide over a little bit so that the hose would have more space from the belt but as you can see the filter relocate occupies that space. :-\ I'm going to leave it where it is and see how big of a problem it ends up being. Maybe I'll get lucky and it won't be a problem.

All I have left is to top up the oil, top up the transmission fluid, fill the radiator with coolant, and then cross my fingers nothing leaks.

The charcoal canister still needs to go somewhere. How bad is it if I just delete the thing and cap the lines?

It will smell a little fumey. Do you have inspections in your area?

We do but cars 25 years and older are exempted so I'm free and clear.

The whole point of the canister is to capture gasoline fumes from in the tank right?

No pictures right now but I'm pretty much done and ready to roll. At ****ing last!

Couple of things doe:
1. the charcoal canister I discovered has been disconnected since at least the head swap but I think longer than that. I was doing some research last night and I'm going to rig up one of these DIY charcoal canisters from PVC pipe and activated charcoal from a fish store.

http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/191967-need-fuel-vent-charcoal-filter.html

2. There is a small trans fluid leak from one of the lines at the transmission. I just need to shimmy back under there and tighten the fittings some more at the trans.

3. On a total cold start the car runs super rich. Like in the 10's afr. If I feather the gas it will stay running but if I just let it idle it will sputter and then eventually die. That's a tuning issue that I need to address but should be a simple fix.

I was hoping to drive it into work tomorrow but I need to address those few things above. Once those are square I'll give it a drive.

Ordered some more silicone coupling and aluminum pipe from silicone intakes to redo the upper and lower radiator hoses. The upper hose was a Goodyear universal hose that works but is a little long and the lower is a three piece hose Kenny made for me when the did the head swap. The lower hose was pretty smart initially but now that I've moved stuff around some the hose sits really close to the alternator belt. I think the new stuff will move it off the belt some.

Has anyone ever made their own fan shroud? I've been reading stuff online of custom fiberglass ones and sheet metal aluminum ones. I dont really have one on the efan now so I could probably use one.

Small update since it's been a minute.

This thing runs and drives like a champ.

Here's the charcoal canister I rigged up. It seems to work after my first fill up the other day. It's just chilling behind the front bumper where the old canister used to sit.

I happened to get everything together at just the right time as our landlord at the Boat House decided he didn't want to make his life easy and sell us his house so we've been using the wagon to move. I was slightly worried I'd have to have the car towed or figure out how to drive it across down without a finished intake but thankfully it worked itself out. The upside to moving, well there are a lot of up sides like a roof that doesn't leak everytime it rains or a fully functional shower, is that now we have a real garage. I can park the car totally covered with enough space to do some work if I wanted to. This will come in handy when I start working on the suspension.

So yeah, major motor surgery complete. Bit off a giant chunk and then took six months from start to finished. I'm really pleased with how everything has turned out. I do want to get a proper Yoshifab catch can going to get rid of those ugly plastic used to be white water hoses.

The next plans are to redo the suspension. Koni yellows on all 4 with Ben's coil overs/strut mounts and suspension stuff.

CONGRATS!!!, drive it for awhile and have fun before you drop any more money into it. Work out all the bugs while u still or are planning to have money for other things

u just need a metal break. a local HVAC guy might be down to bend u a simple on up

sounds like there may be an exhaust leak going on there somewhere :-/

looks great otherwise!

Short update today.

My grey daily **** the bed the other day so I've been dding this car for the last couple of weeks. So far it's been pretty solid dealing with daily driving Atlanta traffic.

The odometer stopped working yesterday at 167k which, ironically, is about when it stopped working on my grey car years ago. So ill order a new gear today to fix that. I need to order some vac hose to fix this bov not really working.

I got the bp8 spark plugs swapped in over the weekend. It had bp6's in so that's my spark blow out issue im sure. I still need to come down to montgomery and do some dyno time sooner or later.

the temp of the plugs doesn't have much to do with blowout resistance, tighten the gap up a little and get back in 'air

New plugs were gapped .028 right out of the box. The old plugs were around .032 said the autozone gapper tool thing.

nice. probably don't need to close it much more than that, with the ellis coils

I do kind of hate how deep into the head the spark plugs sit. It's basically impossible to not break one of those coil wires getting them off even with a boot puller. Fortunately the new gig has a chevy/gmc dealership in our group so I can walk across the street and get a set of 8 ac delco wires for like 70 bucks.

Ordered a treadstone vacuum block so that I'll have enough vacuum ports. It will also let me clean up some of the vacuum port clutter I've had going on for a while. Hopefully this will help with the BOV not really opening like it's supposed to.
