940 940 series B230 engine DRAIN PLUG size & it's threads per inch

Can someone tell me what size the oil drain plug is in a 940(it's size/threads per inch)

I know a 240 and 740 drain plug is 3/4-16. Bit IIRC isn't the 940's drain plug *smaller*?
 
I recently read somewhere that it's 3/4"-16.

Decided to look it up. 94-95 940 used M18-1.5 Dorman number: RB090167.

Pretty sure all B230s got the same plug. I know they all got the same crush washer part #18818.

I know the 120,140, 240 and 740 uses same plug size (3/4-16).

But seems like I recall the 940s had smaller than 3/4-16 drain plug, and and has smaller hex for wrench.I can't remember for sure though.

No, not any more.
I found these Dorman Numbers:
090-008, 3/4"=16
095-004, 3/4"-16
091-020 Self Tapping, 3/4"-16

All fitting:
American Motors 1956-1963
Volvo 1983-1995
 
drainplug on B230 on 240/740/940 is all the same, 1" hex head with 3/4-16 threads

B234 drainplug on the other hand may be different
 
Its also the same... maybe you're thinking later 960 drain plug on the whiteblock? I don't know the threads for that.
 
My google searches list that it has a 3/4-16 but found one saying 18mm- 1.5 too.

Maybe different year 940s had metric due to an engine option? maybe other reasons?

Does anyone know if the 740 and 940 share the same OE Volvo *Oil Temp Gauge* in the Instrument Cluster?(I presume a OT gauge was offered by Volvo on 940Turbos, as an accessory?)

IE: are they the same ohm range gauge?


B234 is the same for sure. I have one of Smokey's drain plugs with the oil temp sender in my B234.

Are you using the OE Volvo Instrument Cluster OT gauge *OR* an aftermarket 52mm OT gauge?

OK thanks. That is one thing I've needed to know.

As this thread also applies somewhat to my OT Sender Drain plug. Why I need to know size of drain plug on 940 and if OE Volvo Instrument Cluster OT gauge was/was not offered on 940..
