240 Deteriorated Boot on Overdrive Solenoid | Should I Replace it?

1991 Volvo 240 with automatic transmission

The boot at the top is mostly missing. When I push up on what remains of the boot (circular piece of rubber on top of the solenoid), the top of solenoid is exposed. Is this a problem? Would it be best to replace the part? I have not noticed any issues with going in/out of overdrive.

Wow, nice & clean down there. :nod:

I had one finally go bad & replaced the solenoid. The wiring is a bit of a p.i.t.a. but worth the effort. It's a nice feature, for a variety of reasons. ;-)
