Default water temp gauge

I have a b230ft and my understanding is that there are two coolant temp sensors on the head, one for the gauge and one for the ecu. Is that correct? I want a digital water temp gauge so couldn't I just swap the sender for the cluster gauge for a digital one? Am I missing something or is it that easy?

The one towards the front of the car is for the gauge cluster.

You might have one like this, instead of single spade one. This one I posted is 88+ style, earlier cars had a single spade one.

Either way, the one on the back, that has injector-style connector is for the ECU-s, and you don't want to mess with that one.
