The Beige Bounce Back - Vol242vo's 242

The best kind of mirrors for a 2 series. Lot's of really nice work cleaning up the fiddly bits. Those are the kinds of things I appreciate in a car, keep up the good work!

Agreed! Thank you, big fan of your 242.

As much as I’d love to dump money into some Recaro RXs, I don’t have that kind of budget with a mortgage payment (love my house) and 2 teenage girls. I’ve been watching for a decent set of charcoal seats to show up anywhere. Last week I went the the junkyard where I was looking for a said 242, I should have checked the VIN, it was a 245. However, it had a near mint looking set of front cloth seats. My guess is these were covered for most of their life. Not much color fade or rips and tears. Tore them apart, cleaned and treated the slides, washed the covers, happy with the results.

Cleaned up the old door panels, replaced the brown trim pieces with black, and bolted the seats in. Still under cover until weather is better, but satisfied with the interior so far.

Nice! A nice weekend project with noticeable results!

Pretty much sums it up right there...weekend by weekend, it’ll get there. Thanks Harold.

Those seats look great! And why does that dog look like he has walrus tusks?:rofl::rofl:
Steve

Thanks! Haha, that’s my 12 year old black lab, Abby. She goes where I go. She also photobombed my sig picture if you look closely.

I sourced a bigger set of wheels from a board member (huge fiasco, still working through it), I have 2 of the 4 wheels. 16 x 9.5 rear wheels, I’ll need to have one bend repaired before I throw tires on. A huge plus for me is they’re 5x108 direct bolt on. Got them torn apart and took some steel wool to the outside lip to expose any pitting, good news, there isn’t much if any. A little torn on what color to powder coat the centers. They won’t be black though.

Definitely going to need 15mm+ spacers and extended lugs:

I’m contemplating it...I like the looks and color of the 15s that I bought the car with. 15s are just too damn small.

Run Acura TL-S calipers. Same Brembo thing as Rs but take a 300mm rotor. Pretty sure you could get one from a P80 with big brakes and make an adapter...

I had a chance to check out the rear diff situation and specifically the welded spider gears, not impressed with the workmanship, just one more thing I have to correct. I’ll live with it until I can’t anymore, in the meantime, I flushed the gear fluid and properly sealed up the cover, leak free now.

Shot a few coats of clear coat after taking a wire wheel to it, see how it holds up...

Repaired a few cracks in the grill with Gorilla Super Glue and carefully clamped it together for the night.
