White block exhaust port Q:

So my 242 got totaled out a while ago, so I've been forced to upgrade my DD. I bought a '99 S70 T5 with a burnt exhaust valve. I've had the head rebuilt and I'm ready to start putting it back together. I'm trying to reduce the back pressure in the exhaust by porting the exhaust housing of the brand new 16T and porting out an R manifold. I was looking at the exhaust ports, and notice a funny bump up in the port. Half of me wants to knock it down, and the other half thinks Volvo put it there for a reason. Maybe to reduce reversion of the exhaust gases? There's actually a dip in the port floor right in front of the bump. If I were to knock it down level, there would still be a small dip. I'm wondering if anybody has any flowbench experience with leveling out this bump, positive or negative? Thanks. Terran

Through Google image searches, it looks like '98 and '99 exhaust ports have this bump, but not the 2000s.
