Follow up: Finished the installation, but a new problem has arisen.
Now I cannot shift into reverse without stopping the engine, putting it in reverse and starting it in that gear, i.e. it won't shift from first or second without grinding so badly I dare not force it.
When I try to engage reverse it grinds, rat a tat tat, with obvious shaft / gear spinning.
I've attempted to adjust it but have been unable to stop the grinding.
Suggestions?
