Vintage Sloppy shifter linkage '66 122

Ok, so we just purchased/received our first Amazon wagon from Cal/Nv/Texas, and has no rust issues or body issue. I will be doing plenty of suspension and motor work...but my first imprtession is that the M40? has a lot of slop in the shifter linkage.

I have been doing a lot of searching on shifter linkage parts for this vehicle, and not having much luck.

Can anyone give me a head start? I am sure there are brass and plastic under the shifter that probably need replacing.

Where to start?

Unfortunately there's no replaceable wear items other than the cover itself.

I did the roll pin fix decades ago.
First on a M40, but then on a few M41s and a M4.

Never looked back. They're all still working well.
Though it's important that you don't use the shift lever as an armrest.

Ha, I use my cocktail for an armrest..however,

Did you have to modify the top of the shifter housing, or just bush it up?

The only "modification" I did was to elongate the slots on the cover so the new drift pins slid easily in the slots without much play.
Did a write-up decades ago on brickboard, but can't find it.
It's really not that complicated.

I'm good to go now...

I also greased the ball & pins on reassembly.
