![]() Hey guys I just picked up a '93 240 wagon. PO had started some work on the engine. He pulled the fan, shroud, radiator, and water pump. I have the water pump, new timing belt, new radiator hoses, new crankshaft bearing, and thermostat. I found this lying in the pile of parts. So pardon my ignorance but what is it and where does it go? I am also replacing the red coolant pipe that runs from the water pump to the heating core(?) since mine is pretty corroded at the water pump junction. Anything else I should hit while things are opened up?
Thanks ![]() |

![]() It bolts over your exhaust manifold. It would have a "preheat" hose attached to it, that then goes into your air box. You don't need it unless you want warm air going into your intake and helping your car get up to temp faster.

![]() Intake preheat pipe, mounts on exhaust manifold.
Worth about $0.25 scrap price (probably less) unless you live somewhere far north. |

![]() That is the heat shield that bolts to the exhaust manifold. The pre-heat tube to the air cleaner box attaches to the round tube section of that shield.
