old window channel seals

they are glued in and have a little stainless boarder on edges

cleaned off most of the glue

while inside the door I removed 80% of the original deadener and added Dynamat

new from Volvo window channel gaskets are like modern cars- all rubber, pressfit and no stainless
this one was a pain to get past the window. I took the window off the regulator and squeezed the seal past it.

I just did the quarter windows on my 65 yesterday using new seals from Volvo. Why didn't do this earlier ? Good call on the Dynamat, I did the same thing and then did the roof before doing the headliner. Definitely makes a difference with sounds and heat.

It made a huge difference in my 245, especially with heat from sun!
I was tired of the window rattling around. I dont have the rivet tool and the one gasket on that rail is removable

Today
replaced the headlight rings and installed a h3 (?) lights. I dont even know where or when I got them. Some made in India stuff that seems to be good.

I then installed this - sadly I only have one - sold my last pair to brown friend of mine - can anyone guess who?

Also installed trunk seal and cleaned out the trunk. Removed all the old sound deadening
and found out my gas tank needs replacement. I have another one but for now Im just going to seal up the small holes.

I bought some tank sealer goop... should work for now. I will replace it when the fuel sender gasket comes in

Dude.... that tanks needs to be in a landfill yesterday! That's scary! Those headlight covers are the same as AC Cobras, they're all over Ebay for $15-$25/pair

That tank is nasty. Find someone with a backyard full of old volvos, and buy a tank from them.

Thanks for the offer, that is super nice of you. I have a good tank already, it's a little dented at the bottom but I should be able to push it out when I take off the fuel sender. I do however need a front seatbelt. My donor car was a year off and it's different. It wouldnt be a big deal but the bolt holes are different and so are the threads in body.

What should I use as a sealant between the tank and body of car?

I just used some clear silicone, and it seems to have sealed well, and won't be a pain to remove because it's not adhesive. Seems like it'll work?

IPD sells this stuff, but I just use cord weatherstrip from the hardware store. 3 rows seems to work best.

Yeah, I used the putty we use to seal the trim clips inside the doors and trunk. Thin layer works great.

Been a while since I did anything to this car

Today I cleaned up this page and fixed the links from photosuckit. Sure takes a long time to do this

Got around to replacing the fuel tank with one that I got from the 65 junk car. Dented at the bottom and some rust inside. I will clean out the rust from the inside with molasses - the old school trick

all the screw heads were rusted so I just sanded them down. I made sure to smoke and take off the sender to try to spark the fumes - but with no luck

This is the replacement that I'm going to use

fuel sender has seen better days

dented at the bottom but it was pretty much free

Bill Hursch sells a good tank sealer, I've used on a lot of different cars and I have never had an issue. Glad to see you working on this thing again.
