What? Who? Where?
In what reality?
Even the megabuck Swedish builds you see are only around the 650hp mark, and that's barely a "B230" any more.

Dude since your engine bay is already that color, do it to the rest of the car and slap some black deck stripes on there!

I tend to agree with Forg, but we are probably bias coming from a sr dominated community. Over here an sr is easy to get, they get dropped into just about anything rwd.. actually fwds too...

SR 500 hp is a few grand of parts off the shelf. 500 hp 16v redblock is time and engineering.

Megabuck Swedish builds are way over 1000 HP... Making 500 HP on a redblock with a B234 head isn't particularly hard either. Hell, stock internal'd redblocks (FT internals, mind you) have made over 600 HP with B234 heads. Seems the average 16V build that has some money put into it and a good turbo/manifold combination makes 850.

I'll believe that hasn't been doubled for effect by the dyno operator when I see it ... sorry, but it's a little hard to accept that.

What's so hard to accept that a large 4 cylinder with an outrageously strong bottom end and some of the best flowing 4 cylinder heads ever put on any engine can't make more power than your average built 4g63?

The DOHC heads don't flow that well standard, and the bottom-end design is from 1975 ... I accept it can be done, but I don't accept it can be done easily or cheaply - hence I don't believe it's actually common to have a daily-driveable redblock-powered car with that level of power.

It runs now, my friend took a phone video, but hes taking his time sending it too me.

Made a gauge panel tonight, just need to wire them and get the driveshaft in to be modified. I'll have to take a pic of all the nissan switches and gauge cluster adapted to the volvo, kinda rough around the edges, but it will all work and hopefully be reliable

So close to being mobile.

Just a d-shaft and power steering lines before it should move under its own power

what would be "that" well, just so i have a scale to work with? ... like, how many cfm at 28in and what lift?
the stock 16v head data i've seen posted on this website are pretty impressive in my mind.

Making 850hp on any redlock is pretty far from trivial.

Volvo gauge cluster was in the garbage long ago and the 240sx one is resting in its place.

I'm just wiring in my innovate wideband, egt, and boost gauge.

Looking into driveshaft shops so I can get it modded when the next payday comes around.

Thats all thats left before she should be driving under her own power.

Got to lower the front swaybar to clear the oil pan, cut the front springs so it sits moar gangsta.

So close, I need to get a ton of pics of it almost done.

Well, made some progress, just need to wait for Gavin to post the burnout vids.

It overheated a bit too much and blew the top tank on the rad and slewged all over the crank sensor and a bunch of other things motor seems ok though, just need to clean it. Turbo was kinda red hot too.

there was no fan hooked up yet and it wasn't overheating for long. It's running fine now, just need to mount my aluminum rad and hook up some fans. Been a rough week, so the car might be put of to the side for a week or two.

You stole my idea! It's totaly *itchin! Any pointers you can give me? I have a 79 242GT that I am gutting to be my racer. It was free and I have been comtemplating a redblock with 234 head and custom turbo setup, KA24DET, or SR20. Totaly awesome though.

this build makes me happy. all my drift friends are all about 240's and this would be a great hybrid between both the volvo and nissan. plus you can say you have a 240 that you drift in just like theres, only you can hit **** and drive away
