Where does the "magic" happen?

I occasionally post on another forum focusing on air cooled Volkswagens (volksrods.com) and they have a great thread showcasing the work spaces they use. I'm curious to see what the Volvo community has. I know I alternate between parking lots, the driveway of my house at school, and the garage at home. Makes for some interesting times.

Pictures!

The driveway, with the fleet.

And where I generally end up.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I figured with lots of pictures of Volvos in pieces, Showroom was prolly the right spot. So, post up! Where do you make magic on (torture?) your Volvo?

its an old pic, but we still got it out there...the carport...not the volvos. a few years ago we put concrete in over half the backyard. it can hold roughly 8 cars on it...maybe more. so we got a lot of space to work on cars...it just has to be done on nice days.

That's where I usually work. ON the gravel... it's also the storage place for the volvos.

the big gate you see here is a car port... reserved for my mom's accura. I can consider myself lucky when I'm able to use it to work on my car
IMG_2350.jpg

Before she got the acura it used to be our "storage room"
IMG_2353.jpg

one of the rare instances... when I could use it for a little...

4 years ago when I realized that I was going to work on volvos I made this little shade area... which also served for an engine removal area once.

Now I'm working mostly in gravel again.

Better shot of the garage (now there is A LOT of misc. crap in there, not so much room for the car):

I don't do alot of work on my car actually. Light work is done in the garage, but my car is all stock and I don't have plans on modifying it at this point. When I want to do oil changes and such I punk-out and go down to the shop I used to work at so that I can utilize the lift(s).

Here you can somewhat see my garage with my truck in it. Yes, it is parked in there sideways. Damn garage is hardly long enough for the Volvo to fit in. There's a lot more crap in there now, not to mention two engines waiting to be installed.

Altho with a lot more mess and full of stuff now. I think I'll build shelves in there next week.

owner pull any guns lately?

Out here on the farm, we got lots of room to work. Garages and barns, multiples of many, just enough perhaps.

66 caddy converible on the left. Middle has a bunch of junk. Right side has an old GMC truck.

This is where the magic happens Volvo wise. Plan is to pony up the walls to raise the roof another 8 feet and put windows all along the top and then put in a hoist.
workspace3.jpg

Backside of SVS. Is that another double shop next door? What's in that? Mmmmm.
workspace4.jpg

Yet another barn. What's in there? Looks Knarly.

That traktor block looks red. More to come.

Dan Gurney's old mustang road race car. Still looking for a replacement Gurney motor as the original was stolen from a shop a long time ago. I think there where only 10 or 20 Gurney motors ever made. I saw one on a stand once at the Portland Swap meet 25 years ago. Did you get the serial number? George (Landlord who owns the mustang) wanted to know.

Ford 302 powered Mercedes. If it ran that is..

workspace17.jpg

As if I didn't have enough wheels and tires already.

workspace18.jpg

Nuthin like a stack of dishes to make all the tires seem puny.

The Magic man needs to shave before heads to the GF's.

Engine, in the so called garage
IMG_5194.jpg

Got a garage for the car during my conscription year (starts jan.12).

In the shed, where all good things happen, it has a comfortable place to sit, a fische reader, welding gear, sounds, a fridge, lots of tools, a few cars, a kettle, lots of parts

Just look at my profile pic.

33x35 12' ceiling+rafters

also it has an addition on it that isn't finished yet.

I fux with a 12,000 square ft shop with like 8 lifts, oil on gun, coolant in bulk, oil dump, drainage, air compressor, heat...

Its amazing.

^ Wow...sounds tight.

Sp3aK: Despite the garage being smack in the middle of downtown Durham (...sketch...) it was still pretty sweet. Lots of cool stuff back there and a lot more room than expected from the view outside. Where are you now?
