Nick is still the OG on this, but I don't know that the documentation is improved all that much from when he did it (lol)
I may (or may not) do a writeup on the process later, right now I'm just... exhausted from dealing with it.

Anyway, mark's 740 2j wagon, quick functionality (smoke) test.

The backfill solenoid (3-2 shift solenoid circuit if it's a 60e) is a new addition to the family and while it has been in the firmware for I think 8 months, virtually no one has talked about it, I didn't even realize it was there until I fired up the ol test mode. As far as having all the wires twisted together.. this thing has been in and out of the car so damn many times it's not funny anymore. I cleaned all that up last night and spent another 5 minutes trying to get things talking on CAN, and apparently also changed something such that now the PRNDL input isn't working (And it's not talking CAN either, so NOTHING really is working. The temp for the trans is wrong too, unsure about that, not too worried right now tho. it's hooked up and that's all I really GAF about).

The writeup could potentially apply to 960 transmissions as well, however the harness is different on those and additional work would probably be required.
I'm fairly certain I have now spent more time working on this than was spent on the entire engine harness, and that was a bit of a tedious process.

edit:
Also, one can use the microsquirt now, so that does decrease the amount of input labor, but the lack of documentation covering the transmission itself does not do one any favors.

Oooooh, this is relevant to my interests! Nice work!
I've got a Poi Shift currently, but sometimes it would be nice to not have to remember to shift.

the ms shift setup has provisions to retain the paddle shifters. I've put the circuits on mark's gpio, and included the wiring at the box, but I'm not going to wire that up, he can work that out later if he'd like. The system can be wired up standalone as well, but since the ecu in the car is can enabled, it requires less stuff to wire up.

Now mark just needs to rig his wireless mouse up to the steering wheel so he can use the pointed to shift.

That looks sweet though! Looks like you could do paddles maybe?

yeah, it's set up for upshift downshift buttons/paddles/whatever. I'm just not hooking all that up. the wires are in the harness already.

what mark is going to have to do is get the shifter to behave correctly, it has a habbit of not finding drive on the switch.
