Default Discussion about b230+t fuel system

Hi, I'll make this post short, p.s I'm a huge noob sorry if I sound stupid. I've got a b230 new rebuild with yoshifab rods, turbo cam, valve springs, custom manifolds, bigish turbo (not picked out yet), megasquirt. looking to get around 400 hp. I have brand new stock fuel pumps and lines. My question is should I look to getting a larger pump ? and what kind of fuel rail should I run? Open to any suggestions

Happy New year's!!

The stock rail should be fine, the question should be what size injectors, stock fuel pump maybe not enough. I'm sure you will hear many opinions, but if you want good ones give a few more details. Turbo size/boost, what car is it, can you tune the megasquirt yourself, etc

400? So you'll be running e85 yes? I'd shoot for 1000cc injectors, bigger is okay since you're going to megasquirt. Probably a dw300 in tank pump. Stock rail should be fine.

What transmission are you planning to run?

Tuning won't be an issue, I've been in contact with a few shops in my area with Dino's that are willing to work on megasquirt systems. I'm starting to think I should wait untill I've got most of the car ready/picked out and consult with whichever shop ends up doing the tune. Id rather the car run on pump gas so maybe I'm shooting too high with 400.
Also when upgrading the pump should I replace the one in the tank or the one next to the fuel filter? Or eliminate one and upgrade the other?

Thank you so much for you input

Lose the inline and go with a decent in-tank.

Sounds like what I'll do. I was never a fan of having 2 different pumps.

if you're going to run E, get a walbro 450 out of the gate and just be done with it (get the one rated for e85 use). You'll have to upgrade the pump wiring, and you'll need to make sure/replace the sender to filter line with high pressure fuel line.

I always had pretty good luck with the stock pumps as long as they're working well and you're not asking too much of them. depending on which version of megasquirt you're running, you could tie in a fuel pressure sensor, and if it starts dropping off under load, it'll be time for an upgrade. the v8 car ran fine with the stock pumps(within reason) until the in-tank pump finally died of old age, and it'd previously been fine with the 4 cylinder 16vt setup.

Now with in-house Dyno tuning!
