Rear gear, 122 wagon.

I am contemplating what to do with my wagon. It has 4:56 gears and most of my driving involves distances as I live in the middle of nowhere. Its a 16 mile trip for example to get a cup of coffee.

My motor is bored to 2130, cam and all that junk so it has nice torque and I feel it could pull a higher gear. I have not been able to find a new gear set for sale, not sure I want to do an Exploder swap as I am still thinking a Miata rear will eventually find its way in there when I have some time.

Thoughts?

What year? If you are lucky, you have Dana 30 rear axle, and you can swap gears from 240 1030 rear axle, highest and easy to find gear is 3,54:1.

Do you have an overdrive on it? That makes a nice difference.

Ok, 67 should have Dana30 (M30). Measure shaft tube diameter, 63 mm is diameter for Dana 30
