Hey guys , had a Volvo 240 come to us at work with most of the lh2.4 swap done I've connected the remaining sensors and wiring up in the bay but have an issue with a few spare plugs remaining in the footwell that I have no clue where they connect. I've spent a few hours searching with no joy I've read the 2.4 guide a few times but still can't figure these plugs out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Are you showing us more than one black 6 pole plug or is that several pics of the same plug? The one with the fat red wires looks like a fuel relay connector.

Do you know where the harness came from?

Usually a 240 lh2.4 harness has the ECU and EZK and the fuel pump relay on the passenger side, not on the drivers side near the fuse panel. Yeah weird. Yeah the black plug is what you plug the fuel pump relay into of course.

Also that 984 ECU is the immobiliser ECU and that means without the correct 98 harness with the correct key to start the car it will not run no matter what you do... To make the 984 work replace the chip with aftermarket tuned chip.

Are you in England and is this a right hand drive 240?

Okay yeah seems like you are. Okay wiring up the bay is easy as it all just plugs in where it's supposed to go, now the hard part is those extra wires in the white connector there by the ECU's, you gotta hook a few of those up or it won't start at all. Not sure what guide your reading but how about the 4 wires to make it run one? Here.

Let me find my how to picture and re-upload it. Seems it's gone as I deleted my photobucket. But when I upgraded my 240 from lh2.2 to lh2.4 I just plugged the power to the coil and the other wire to tach right in to the old part of the already there harness. Depends on what year car and harness your upgrading from, but that is the other two wires that need hooking up under the hood. Depends on your year 2.4 harness also, but seems like you have later style harness with that big square white plug on the ECU side of the harness. That is the other wires, four that need to be hooked up to run. Plus you need the fuel pump relay plugged into that black plug with the big red wires. The big thick wire in the white plug, maybe the one with red stripe is switched power to the relay to the fuel pumps. Critical. But maybe that other black plug, not the black fuel pump relay plug, is power to the relay. Are all those coming out of the 2.4 harness?

I'm not that familiar with the later 240 2.4 harness so could be different then the 1989 one which just has one white plug that has all the critical stuff to wire up that comes out of the harness there near the ECU.

Thank you for the replies ! Sorry about the confusion with the pictures it's multiple photos. There is one white 6 pin connector and 2 black 6 pin connectors. The car is a 1989 but unsure what year the harness is. Sbabbs very informative thank you yes all the plugs are on the 2.4 harness. I'll ask the customer to find a non immobiliser ECU , can I ask what numbers are on the fuel pump relay ?
