S/V/C Odd ball question

...but I'm an odd ball so that is to be expected.

What is that alignment bolt thing on the front rotors called? It's a small bolt that basically secures the rotor to the wheel to keep the lug holes aligned and in some instances to help line up the wheel when it's being installed.

Other than making life a bit easier when installing the wheel I don't think it serves any other purpose does it?

Thanks

Something about keeping the wheel installed in the same position relative to the hub/brake rotor for balance/vibration reasons when they were "matched" by the manufacturer. I've also seen them on German cars.

Haven't seen them being used on newer cars at all.

They hit on my hydras. I pitched them in the trash can at NTB when they refused to mount the wheels to the car.
