Can someone help me, I've run into a snag. I bought a IPD A-Pillar 3 Gauge pod shown here:
http://www.ipdusa.com/version.asp?s...rParents=136,275&P_ID=285&CAT_ID=275&V_ID=724
Does the gauge pod just fit right over the existing A-pillar, or do I need to remove the existing A-pillar an shove this new one in its place? I've tried to squeeze it into place but in all honestly I don't want to throw $56 down the drain if I don't have to.

Suggestions anyone?

Thanks
DJ

I pulled my existing one off and put it on...what car?

EDIT: Its super loose though.

EDIT: 2

Yea you definitely need to remove the original a-pillar then it fits quite well. (atleast mine did)

Alright. This is crappy but its a photo of the color of the back seat. Which is the same btw of the rest of the interior of the car obviously. I'd show more but right now I have both front seats out, and center console so I can do electrical wiring and also actually cleaning like I like it:oops:

That CD player in the background is just a temporary till I start having a regular income and it requires replacement obviously btw

K thx. Will do so then. And if I encounter any looseness i'll be creative as always an just use some removeable mounting putty that teachers use an what not, works wonders as a spacer in some areas in my 940 i've found.

I've got 2 of those sitting in my garage for 4 years now from the initial prototype group buy, haven't done much more than just look at the boxes. One day ill get around to it.

I used a couple screws in mine. It was real sloppy without them.

mine went on over the top of the original. Had to use some nuts/bolts on it though to hold it down.

I also had to 'clearance' (read: carve the **** out of) the backside of the bottom pod in order for it to clear the dash speaker.

I can get a pic of what I did if you need it.

Thanks guys. I got mine installed now and I'll post a couple pictures of it later today. I removed the original A-pillar and am now just getting wiring taken care of.

On a side note, I don't recommend attempting to solder will on your back and the wires above you:-P. Hot solder dripped on me several times last night, the really funny thing is it was wet yet dried on contact and didn't even burn so that was a truely interesting experience in all honesty.

Can I still paint the A-pillar the color of the interior? Or overall is it just more trouble than its worth since the pillars already installed?

I epoxied my IPD pod onto an old 'A' pillar trim piece that I had, hole sawed some holes in the back to install the gauges, painted to match the interior, put in the gauges and installed.

'Tis an extremely tight fit and it really looks nearly stock.

Pictures?

I did mine exactly like Buzz minus the epoxying and painting part. It felt way to loose without the old A pillar trim behind it and now it fits tight with no screws or glue. Heres the only pic I have, doesn't really show how its mounted though

I stumbled on this thread because I was searching for a 3 gauge pillar for 940 but when I looked at the IPD website or clicked on your link, it comes up with a single gauge pod. What gives? Does anybody else make 3 gauge pillars?
