They call those universal but the way I read it is that those particular converters are only approved for the vehicles listed.

Universal as in one could install them using non factory exhaust and non factory location (within a reasonable distance from stock location)

My other two 242ti have 2.5" exhausts with the cat moved below the passenger side floor board... smog check was a breeze. Mueller I can see where this interpretation would apply.
