Hey all!

1st post asking for wisdom here!

We just bought a '92 240 wagon with 204,000 miles. I have the service records going back to 2004 at 188,000 miles.

Looks like:
- At 197,500 miles in 2009, the right front brake hose failed
- At 199,800 miles in 2012, the right front brake hose failed
- At 204,000 miles in 2019 while we own it, the right front brake hose failed

It looks to be abrasion related, because it was just tore up at the top bend. Left front brake hose has two minor cuts but is in otherwise good shape and appears to be much older than the replacement (judging by dust on the metal parts).

We just replaced the hose and bled the brakes (was due for fluid swap), but would rather not do it again in the 4 months it will take us to put a couple thousand miles on it.

Anyone else have this problem or know what could be causing it? The interval between replacement is concerning.

Thank you for your help and hope to be a contributing member here!

Cheap or wrong brake hoses? Does the car have abs? If it doesnt there are 2 hoses per side. That would explain some of the replacements.
Good quality parts are harder to come by these days. Go oem volvo if you can, whenever you can. Ipd is local and a great source. There annual garage sale event is next month, you should go. There is a swap meet

Car has ABS
It was replaced twice with Volvo part #1229347
Setup & length looked identical to the other side that hasn't been worn through

I didn't know IPD was local - will definitely be at their swap meet!

Thanks!
