Im thinking its a savings of 25lbs, I weighed mine vs a steel one when I had both on hand...it is pretty significant.

I'm going to have to do that to my alum hood. My car is silver, I think it would look pretty good. Are you going to be able to see in the sun? Let us know how much it costs you to get it sealed up.
