Damn dude, that's horrible.
Let me bring mine over and we'll rebuild them both. I'm dying to try it but I don't have suitable workspace.

If it's out we could do it at my work on the trans table. I'm gonna rebuild one of the cores. I just bought my transmission. Should be here in about 3 weeks
 
Cores are pretty cheap. I bough a core for 150. I know right now there are a few for sale locally in unknown condition for around 300 bucks. So not too bad. I have 2 80es right now, I'm going to throw the Jake's kit you linked me to in one of them and use it on my other turbo ls car I'm going to start building. All the ls stuff is fairly pricy out here
 
Some flat bar and angle iron like this will make your life much easier. And I do not recommend wasting money on Red Alto friction discs or the fancy thin steels. The stock friction discs and thick steel plates are good for over 1K hp, the other modifications and valve body are what makes difference.

Yea I have a table at work, I plan on doing this with my other 80e. I just honestly am a little burnt out on doing transmissions so I just wanted to get one with a warranty that will last. We will see how it goes but I'm excited to try out a brand new trans.
 
"If" the converter lockup clutch engages by itself with your small torque converter, you may need to do this to the pump to make it work right (I think sonnax also makes a modified replacement valve that does the same thing, but this seemed easier & more reliable to me...)



 
Yea the trans I got has that already done to it. I didn't do that on the first 80e I grenaded. Luckily it was just the clutches that let go

dang. I'm having a hard time running down cores down here. (well I haven't been looking reallllly hard either, but I'm bouta line up a couple)
 
I took apart the 80e today. I have never seen a trans that fragged I'm my whole life, I'm going to be mix match building a 4l80e for a spare, I will video the process and post it here for you ls guys
 
Ruh Roh, this 80e is absolutely destroyed...... maybe i can salvage the valve body? lol

Quick update, trans is not here yet but I have a new plan for this turd, the car is basically going to be finished after I do the trans swap, really at this point it could use a bigger turbo and such but it's such a good cruiser that I'm not going to mess with drag racing it. I'm picking up another car next weekend and part of me is wanting to convert this thing to a stock pcm and rip out all the megasquirt stuff for the other car but I'm still kicking some ideas around. I will update this thread when the trans is in it but as of now I just really like how everything is working on it and I'm going to be building this other ar for the ziptie drags in January for the 3000 dollar car shootout. Stay tuned guys!
