Going broke and lovin' it - 242 Turbo build

They are on the doors.

To keep it "original", i fabricated a mountingplate that mounts up in the original place, using the original bushings.

First i had to create the baseplate (3mm steel, i'm not about saving weight :p)

Because of the bottompart is going behind the original lower windowtrim, i made the bottom part flat.

I then testfitted the baseplate on to the door, and traced were the 28mm bushing needed to go

In went the first nut, that secures the baseplate to the car using the original nut.

The original mountingbushing, removed all the oxidation from the last 10 years or so.

I think i need to lower them around 20mm to get the desired look i want for them, but i'm happy with them!

Best €250,- i've spend on the 245 in the last year..

It's a Volvo! Offcours i carry tools with me.

I've been thinking this morning, this is the first year the 245 didn't break(or needed major attention) down during the Spring/Summer/Fall period.
Someday i might even call it reliable!

What are the Specs on these wheels and who makes them? I didn't think they would look good until you mounted them. Then I changed my mind.

So long time no see, time to update this thread.

Haven't found the time to start working on the 242 again. It's still being prepped for enginebay paint. And because if don't have enough projectcars, i bought myself another one!

A clean '77 265, been in storage since '92 and complete with all the parts to build it up to a functioning car again.
It's been blasted and the previous owner started with the welding. Only parts that need to be welded are:
- Both rear arches
- Left and right sills
- backside

Front is all done. Plan is to have it gutted, FIA Approved rollcage, 4 bucketseats, 5 Cilinder, Huge turbo (offcourse) and have lots of fun.
Also, i prefer the newer front / rear lights. so i might convert it.

Another major update, since our 242 is running on a Aftermarket engine management system i kept feeling my purple 245 needed a tune-up bad. But since one of the previous owners decided he would create a functioning wiringloom from a 940 and a 240 loom, i have no idea what kind of system my 245 runs. I think its LH2.4, but i'm not sure.
In short, it has the following issues:
- Wireloom is a mess under the hood, awefull to look at
- The computer has a hard time dealing with the IPD cam and 15G turbo, and i have no idea what computer it is.
- I cant program the enginemanagement

To sort all of these problems out, i needed another programmable engine management system. So i got one!
Just need time to pull out the old loom, create a new loom for the lights etc, install the motormanagement system with loom, and get it up and running, before the start of March.

you are a real LH 2.4 hater arent you :) no i'm kidding, programmable engine manegement is cool wen you now how to tune it. (sometink i can't )

wat kind of manegement do you going to use? the same you running on the 242?

would love to get rid of my lh 2.4. but i'm waiting on chips. maybe it's running nicer after that.

I'm running a Megasquirt based, prebuild motormanagement system.
Bought together with a prebuild wireloom from bs-autotune.nl (Company based in the Netherlands)

It's been a while since i updated everything online about the 242, 245, 265 and as latest addition a 244. (I've only been using my Instagram for updates, if you desire it's: @Wantikbenzo)

Quick overview on the 242:
After the sanding, welding all the small holes and painting the enginebay. The engine went back in. And we testfitted the manifold and turbo.

Then proceeded to lay some gold foil, a turbo blanket, fitted a GFB 44mm external wastegate and 800cc Deatchwerks injectors.

Bought another Volvo, now a 244 GL.
Only 70.000KM on the ODO and really clean. Hasn't seen much use after the purchase but i like the color and having a 2, 4 and 5 door 240 makes much sense :D

Got my hand on another set of Polaris wheels and powdercoated them white.

Joined the ricer-croud and went #fullretard with permanent tyre lettering: Doggo doesn't like it.

Welded a flange on the intake for the 50mm Nuke Blowoff Valve, installed a external oilcooler, the original intercooler (let's see how long it holds).

Fitted a Mishimoto fan on a new 940 radiator. Fits like a charm <3

Plenty of room with the waterpump

Winter came, so i had to park up the 245 Turbo. Found a neat little spot!

Installed DO88 waterhoses, Yoshifab Phenolic spacers and a Catchcan adapterplate.

currently i'm waiting on parts to replace my tired old M46 Gearbox in the Purple 245 for a M90 transmission. So ordered a lighter flywheel, new clutch, hydraulic system, driveshaft adapter, and a whole lot of different stuff to make the swap easy and do-able in one day.

The 242 still needs:
- Stainless exhaust with screamerpipe
- Nice interior
- V70R brakes (I've purchased them allready)
- New wheels fitted
and whole lot of small things. But we're getting there!
