I'd listen to a BMW straight six singing over a volvo 4 anyday. I don't know how you guys stand the noise they make.

Though I agree, BMW straight-six > Volvo I-4.
Our engines sound like tractors, those M50s sound like pure, hot, steamy german sex on a platter.

The white 740 has a BMW 6 cyl diesel engine The rest have M50 engines fitted they are very nice engines
If I damaged my E39 I would keep the engine fit a BMW 5 or 6 speed behind it and put it in a 740

Yeah the Beemer 6-inline sounds pretty nice, but a B30 sounds also pretty nice.

I think thats a bit cost prohibitive for most folks, not to mention the M/S50/52 setups tend to have a fatter torque curve.
Turbo BMW FTW.
