89 is a nice mid grade. But yeah I'd just keep the revs high especially up hill, don't let the tranny (auto?) shift into higher gears. Don't floor it from stop lights etc lol

What cars can actually run on 85.5 octane without pinging like crazy?
Welp, stuck the light on there and the mark was dancing somewhere well before the 20? mark.
Guess it's time to take things apart. If anything, I'm getting faster at changing timing belts on these things, and I officially have my one half-assed t-belt change behind me.
The sky's the limit now.
How did it do today going to/from work?
Done. Didn't test drive it but it idles like butter and I'm sure it's fine. Checked all the marks at all the pulleys with the belt on even using my phone's CAMERA for dat parallax, instead of just lining up the cam sprocket and using The Force for the others.
Seemed ok... Took it as easy as I could, trying my best to avoid that rattle sound. Drove 20 miles south and 20 miles north, primarily highway driving. Driving at 60-70 mph was fine, even with the overdrive on. The only time it rattled (I think 'ping' is a misnomer... detonation sounds nothing like a 'ping' sound. just saying...) ...anyway, it only rattled when heading up steeper hills. I tried to only shift once I'd hit 3k or more. Going from a stop wasn't so bad, it was most noticeable in 2nd and 3rd. Power did seemed diminished, though...
Meh. Wonder how many miles I took off this engine, lol.
20-30K miles per day, or 1,000 moles per rattle whichever comes first.
doesn't it depend on the severity of the detonation?
