" He " replied quickly to my ad, because of his online rep, we came to an agreement, where he could come up and inspect the cars in person and leave the dollar amount that he felt was fair for the cars and take them both back home.
What happened was I sent pictures per his request. We agreed on a time that he would come inspect the cars, I had them both out front for easy inspection and removal. He said he left some money ( I never saw it ) and took one of the cars with him after having to fix a FPR. We kept in touch that day and he said he had other problems driving the car back ( I was under the impression that he would trailer them both back to ATX ) and never left more money ( Assuming he left money in the first place ) as he said he would before leaving. If the car or cars were not what you wanted, why not just leave them, and save us both this hassle? You are the Volvo expert, you had all the time you needed without pressure from me to inspect as deep as you wanted before taking the car. It's not about the money, its principle at this point.
He left the 262c out front and never came back for it ( I got a ticket from the city for parking a inop car in the street ) He took BOTH titles ( he took 1 car ) and has run up toll road charges on the lisc plate on the car he did take.
I asked the Admins here to ask for my title and plates back, which they did, and " he " replied that he would send them right away... and has not ( Big Suprise )
So I am out:
1 of 2 cars that was being sold as a package
Title to the car he left - so I cannot do anything with it
Toll Road Fines -
and no money
Lisc Plates still have not been returned
My fault, trusting an internet persona...
Thanks for nothing,
S
p.s. I say " he " because I was told that more than one person shares this screen name.
So, back to the Amazon at hand...
Rot is common on any of these no matter what location, for a sedan or coupe in your case, spare tire well is the first place to check out. then under the windshield rubber gasket inside the car- Front and Rear and rear quarter windows (if they pop out, look under the interior panel for rust stains). The floor pans, whole nother story... if you have access to a lift you can start banging around with a ball peen hammer... or peel up the carpet (PITA) and dont hope to have the underlayment come out peacefully.
Oil leaks- front and rear seals should most likely be felt, I'd convert these to later silicone or neoprene off of newer b20s. Check and adjust the valves and replace cork gasket with neoprene from IPD (its reusable beyond that of the cork)
-PCV System - if it has a draft tube, well that sux. Otherwise clean the flame trap and replace PCV hoses.
Cooling system - flush and burp to check for heater core/valve leaks.
Carbs - SU's- check the throttle shafts for air leaks, these will make any adjusting no worth it. Rebuild or have them rebuilt. Weber (progressive 2 barrel)- take it off and put on some SU's or dual DCOEs.
DCOE's - Talk to Phil on brickboard or sweedspeed, I have no clue, or JohnMC
they're a lot of fun and a lot of looks when you have them out... My wagon "Svea" gets a **** ton of looks! but if you look at my build thread you'll see why.
I forgot about suspension - no matter what condition, replace the busings, its the best 160.00 I've spent so far on handling.
Wait, looking at your sig, you daily a 911 SC targa? sweet! I test drove one (early 80's model) that was going to be my first car, I swerved to miss a quarter on the freaking road, they're so low when you sit in them... Truly an amazing machine to drive. The owner was like "WTF was that!" and I was like "I think it was a quarter"... I decided not to when he started tellign e about the engine fire and how spliced up the wire harness was, oh and when he told me he still wanted 20K for it... I seriously though he was joking, and he wasn't.
looks straight! I love the 2 door 122s. Looks like the very common nose bash, but awesome start! if you havent already, get a build thread going. I want to see more 122s being brought back... I just picked up some parts from a guy that had 3 that were cut up and in his scrap trailer
Nice car. Nice color. I had one just like that way back in '75....
Have you caged it yet? Been a day or so...come on!
