Ok, I know JVL isn't here to school me/yell at me for asking questions or giving answers, but I'd like to put this down on paper and ask for opinions and a little guidance.
The current plan for the 142 is as follows:
- 1990 B230ft short block (in my garage)
- new Na pistons and rings with valve reliefs cut
- 1989 B234f cylinder head with ford 4.6 valve springs and new lifters
- 4 cylinder T5 trans (in my garage)
- GSXR 1000 ITB set adapted to the original 16v manifold
- stock 16v exhaust manifold OR custom built header
- Speeduino running speed/density and spark through either an LH2.4 flywheel (coil on plug) or hall effect and crab distributor cap
Realistically, I should be pushing around 175hp at the flywheel, which, for my budget, is more than I can get out of a B20.
For the 4.6 valve springs, can I just use stock Volvo retainers and keepers? Is there a company currently grinding new/reground NA cams for a B234?
