Volvo 242 2,5 16v widebody build

making new mounting points for a new front bumper, the old one was looking kinda sad ;P

turned out a few thingys on the lathe, 2 large for the front and 2 smaller for the sides

made a bracket that fit in the original spot inside the bumper

then i made a bracket with a rubber thingy on the fender, the idea is that i simply push the pointy pegs and the bumper will be in the right place!

ill try to get the front ones done tomorrow, and fit the aerocatch latches in front insted of the sides as they from now on only have to hold the bumper in.. and not also align the bumper like they did before (and failed)

As usual you make me look like I have the mechanical skills of a retarded monkey...keep the cool work up

This is one of the best comments a forum has provided. 10/10, would read again!

@Andreas amazing work/killer car, looks mean as f*ck!!!

well, trying to draw up some brackets to mount the upcoming rear spoiler on..

simulated 400kg force (x2 brackets)

oh i cant remember what sensor it is! been a few years since i was doing that ;P i also went with a diffrent sensor as it was easyer to mount (and without treads its easyer to make a seal with a o-ring)

well then, spring / summer is just around the corner! ill have to get back to working on the car then ;P been working on the house for a few months (kinda getting sick of that)

anyway, been talking with Torgeir at Simec this winter about builing a new head for the 2,9.. i still on stock valves so it is a bit of a restriciton on this setup.. anyway, when we where talking about this i told him that i suspected the ACM "turbo" pistons in the 2,9 kit probably has to high a comp ratio for pump gas use! but they dont answer my mails about this, luck he had the numbers and calculated the ratio for me! the answer is 10,7:1, waaay to high for pump gas (explains a lot) so he ordered a thicker MLS headgasket for me. 3mm to be exact ;P

going to try to get that swaped in the comming days :)

Also, the last few days ive been tinkering a little with making a battery holder.. to replace the random alu bar i had before ;P and as always, things got a bit out of hand... lots of holes was drilled...

i got a bit to eager so i forgot to take pics while making the strap over the battery

new headgasket is in! low compression ftw ;P hope it likes boost better now then ;P

still does the flamey burny thingy tho

Andreas, fantastic over the TOP build. ?Are you only using that ground strap on the -battery to the mounting bolt of the box? If so I would suggest running a ground cable from the -battery to the engine block, the better everything is grounded the happier everything will be. Your dedication to this project is amazing!!!

thanks!

as to the ground strap, thats all there is yea... its 35mm2, the same as the + cable.. no reason to use any bigger ground cable! and why would you want a ground cable all the way to the engine? that wont have a lower resistance then using the entire chassie as gorund ;P this is how it is done in all cars with a rear mounted battery.. my daily driver is the same way and there is no problem crancking that big v12....

From a company that sells wires... Wouldn't they be a little bit biased don't you think? ;-)
I'd like some advice on that topic from a more "neutral" source. I'm also planning on moving my battery to the rear.

Btw Andreas, your work is just plain fantastic!

Or another way to view that is because they sell wires they actually know what their talking about.

Maybe you don't listen to your doctors cause they like to keep you sick so they'll have more business?

I listen to my doctor cause we have universal healthcare over here.

I wasn't saying that the article is bull crap but they do have to sell more wires to stay is business.

I'll read the linked articles you posted thank you!
