Cosbysweater's Turbo LS 244

Well, had too much fun the day before the dyno. Apparently doing donuts, burnouts, and trying to roll race lambos is not good for the transmission. I destroyed the new tq converter and the 80e. I believe that the trans cooling situation is not up to snuff

Get a tranny temp sensor maybees. Congrats on some level :-P

Well after a month of sitting around, I got some motivation. I ordered a new torque converter to hold me over till the billet one gets flushed out. I'm gonna throw my spare 80e in for now because the gearstar I ordered is on back order :/ they said it would take 6 weeks to get and I miss driving my car

"with an auto is there as much need for a tranny blanket ?"

"Nah these things seem pretty damn strong."

Oops.

Love the build -- the burnout under the bridge was inspiring. Easy enough to build a stronger tranny for it.

The trans had like 225k on it when I threw it in. Lol

I went with a little looser converter this time and it's a 10 inch single billet

Updated the 80e to the new internal harness and all new solenoids, weighed the stock converter last night and it came in at 89 lbs while the new 10 inch single billet came in at 29. So 60lbs of rotating mass off the engine. That's huge!

Hot damn. Will this make it harsher on the diff and suspension? In other words does a heavier one provide more of a cushioning effect to the power delivery?

No it will make it easier on it. The stock converter is so tight with the transgo kit that it slams the gears so hard. The looser converter makes the shifts feel like a stock car with the hd2 kit
