Atom's Amazon Wagon Project Update Thread

I have a drawing of a B6304, but not the 5 cyl. Are they the same ports with one less? If so, I've attached it my folder will all the Volvo flanges I've found online. The 6 cyl whiteblock one is in there.

Score! Thanks homie. Just bumped the end hole over.

The motors from the s40/v50/c30 are a different port shape, bolt pattern and tighter bore spacing than the older whiteblocks.

Well, although the intake for sure is different, the exhaust appears to be the same as other whiteblocks. Cut this from a six cylinder pattern trimmed down to five holes.

Where can a guy pick up a whiteblock exhaust flange? I guess I should see if the RNC uses a different pattern first. Also, anyone know if an 850 flywheel will bolt onto a newer engine? For RWD in my light car, I want to ditch the dual mass flywheel. Also want to keep the stack height short so I have room for adjustability. Are Volvo flywheels neutral balanced, or are the balanced as part of the system (crank etc)?

An 850 flywheel will bolt right up to newer engines. My friend ran one on his C30 for a while. Don?t know how they?re balanced, sorry.

You already know this but yes, the The RNC exhaust port layout is the same as the earlier engines. The RNC exhaust manifold gasket is MLS and is a semi-popular choice for the older engines instead of the 5 individual gaskets that originally came on those engines.

Next, who’s got an 850/S70/p80 V70 flywheel?? A close to Seattle as possible (to save on shipping)

Might not be the most popular choice, but I’m thinking of using Alodine 1201 to “color” the block/head and some other misc aluminum parts. Alodine is a conversion coating for aluminum that is used in the aircraft industry. It’s sort of like anodizing in that it converts the surface of the aluminum to resist corrosion. I want sort of a vintage aircraft look to the engine and I think a combo of alodine, gloss black, texture black and maybe some gold or copper accents will be a good look.

This is what alodine looks like. Usually parts are soaked in it, and I’d probably need to use a spray bottle and spray the main setup. I guess even if I don’t like the result, it’s a perfect surface to paint at that point.

Dash transition base is out.

I’ll have to mess with it later in the week. I have a same-day down & back to San Diego for work tomorrow.

Also figured out why my parking lights wouldn’t come on this morning. Not exactly sure why it happened though.

I love alodine finishes. I say do it.

Oh, I?m doin it. I was just sort of apologizing in advance. LoL.

I need a Seattle local Volvo used parts guy. I?ve got BMW dudes I can call with the randomest thing and they?ve got two sitting in their basement. If I need Volvo parts, I need to ping Portland or the East Coast or check CL, but that?s a whole nother level of hassle.

Glad it will be used. Been sitting on it for way too long.

Danny, Carson and a few others you should have access to a pretty large group of RWD Volvo peeps in the Seattle area. Hopefully no one's hoarding parts for a project they'll never see to completion.

Made a little part while I was waiting on other stuff to get completed. An adapter to run an external oil cooler (Yes, yes, I know those are flare, NOT AN fittings, they’re just there for visual representation).

I think I can adapt to the OE E30 oil cooler with some M22-10 AN adapters.

164-wise, there's a white '74 at Arlington and a gray-blue metallic '71 at 360 in Lake Stevens. So, your beige '75 is still out there.
