Default Davis 2011 BBQ, meet and greet, and Berryessa drive, I lieu of AutoX

so if there isn't going to be an autoX this year who is down for a BBQ and drive?
I'm thinking we meet up at chestnut park on saturday the 14th for a BBQ/meet and greet, then proceed on to a lake Berryessa drive. it is a fun road and a straight shot out of Davis.

of course all of this is pending final word of the AutoX being cancelled

As far as Mark is concerned, the autox is still on. May be in stockton instead of sac, but he's still planning on it.

Might hit up Eric as well and see what he had in mind for a drive.

Was thinking of doing something else to the east of there, up in the foothills. Routes are open topic right now for me until Mark actually has a space and a real organization of the event. If it's a sit for 2 hours, run an hour, sit for 1.5 hours, run for 2 hours event again I will just go on a drive. It's not Marks fault, he's just one man working hard to set this up, but his support on this project seems to be lacking. I had offered but others in the 'club' have said they have it under control.

So lets see what happens, but I am good for a drive.

Until then I will be drinking heavily.

pretty much this, the 30-45min drive to rancho cordova or wherever the autox was last year was a bit much but tolerable, at least it was in a decent place. Stockton truly is a ****hole, moving the AutoX there is a sure-fire way to make sure I (at least) don't attend.

BBQ/drive or dyno day would be a much nicer option than a Stocton AutoX imo.

As I mentioned though, the people up here with any kind of space for the autox are being pricks. Even the SCCA guys are having issues finding spots to hold em around here apparently. Mark's been chatting with them looking for ideas as well. They got kicked from Mather after holding events there for quite some time with not a single incident of any sort while they were there.

If any of you guys know of a place to hold it in Sac, PLEASE let me know!

I know they used to do it at Arco Arena in the parking lot, but we are talking many years ago. so I have no idea if that is still an option.

I'd rather not take a tour of California's lovely meth labs. We have enough of that here.

I'd rather take a drive/bbq/beach/whatever.

I'm not really close to Davis. Anywhere west is closer than here.

Google maps says 73.6 miles to San Fran.
I'm currently at 1085 miles. What's another hour?

Nobody wants to allow a 'high speed' course anymore. Insurance or not, people are too afraid of lawsuits. Hell, even the EVOC course is turning folks down that have been using it for years.

Did Mark check with Mather field? I heard the SCCA group is having an Autox over there in a few weeks. Do you think they are allowing it for them because they are an organization?
