205/60r15 tires too tall for a sedan?

I've been wanting to get new tires on my virgos for my 240 and found Falken Ziex ZE950 205/60r15, wagon spec 24.7" diameter, all seasons that have decent reviews for a good price. Just wondering if the extra height, width, and weight compared to stock 195/60r15 will affect handling too much.

My car had 205/60R15s on when I got it. Not only did they work fine, I'd say they're not tall enough, speedo was still fast. I put 195/65 on the next time.

Yeah. I think I'd need 195/70 or 205/65 to get mine to stop indicating over.

Yes. Use 195/60/15 for correct odo readings

:nono:

Volvo's speedometer calibration is typically ~3% conservative so a size larger usually results in it being spot on.

Although the floppiness of a 206 60's sidewall on a 6" wide wheel won't really corner any better than a 195 65 and a 195 60 will probably out perform it.

Unless you just want the steamroller look and to spend a little more gas it's a wash imo.

I'm currently running 205/55r15. The car handles great, but they're almost done. I've been thinking of doing 195/60r15 since it's the size for the sedan.

195 60 was also the stock size for the 240T & Virgo although millions of bent Virgos would seem to suggest that it's not enough tire / sidewall.

I like to get it up and rolling on more of a 25" tire at 195 65 15, and have the speedo spot on, your car though ...

I guess going 205/60 will do. Thanks guys.

I keep my tires around 35 anyway. Are they still floppy at 36psi?

Idk towery was going on about the 205 60 VS 195 65 thing for autocross a while back, I simply don't like the vague wandery feel of the steering with 205s on the front so I don't run them.

That said when I got my car it had 225 50 15s on Dracos and it went down the freeway wallowing like a seasick caddy with worn out suspension, so much so that my passengers noticed it and commented on it.

"What's wrong with this car it doesn't track right?"

As I said your car your call ...

I'm fine going 195/65, it's just the wheel rim security goes down a little in case a wild curb decides to attack while I'm parking.

215/60R-15 tires on 88 765 resulted in speed being accurate and odometer being 1.9% slow. 205/60R-15 tires resulted in odometer being accurate but the speed was fast. This was confirmed by GPS.

195/65 and 205/60 are pretty much the same size. There's slightly better rim protection and slightly better handling with the 205/60 over the 195/65. Tire pressure-wise, most tires are rated up to 44 psi max. Even a 195/60 is going to be a bit floppy at 35/36... I run 39 front, 42 rear. Rides firm, handles nicely, yet doesn't wear the tires unevenly.

195/60-15 is equivalent to 185/70-14 (GL or GLE sedan size).
205/60-15 (or 195/65-15) is equivalent to 175-14 (DL sedan size).
205/65-15 (or 215/60-15) is equivalent to 185-14 (DL/GL/GLE wagon size).

just to throw a wrench in the works. My 93 classic wagon came with 185/70-14 tires stock and the speedometer read fast. I put 205-60-15 on the car with virgos and it still reads 4mph fast. lol. The door sticker reads 185/70-14 as the stock size.

But generally your list above is what I usually saw stock on the various models.
