Earlier this week I traded my van that I don't really use for 2 non running 240's.
The first one is a 1980 242dl. yellow, brown interior, m46. 87k miles.

<a href="http://s1200.photobucket.com/user/b_murdah/media/CAA15BF1-CCA0-49AD-8FDC-111CCFC794D3.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb334/b_murdah/CAA15BF1-CCA0-49AD-8FDC-111CCFC794D3.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo CAA15BF1-CCA0-49AD-8FDC-111CCFC794D3.jpg"/></a>

Second is a 92 245, black, m47, lh3.1, tan interior, black door cards (po started to change interior to black), no roof rack. 260 some odd thousand miles.

<a href="http://s1200.photobucket.com/user/b_murdah/media/17E71462-D621-430D-AF21-AC4DC5072892.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb334/b_murdah/17E71462-D621-430D-AF21-AC4DC5072892.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 17E71462-D621-430D-AF21-AC4DC5072892.jpg"/></a>

First I'm gonna clean them up, then try to get the wagon running as it was the last one that was running according to the po. Black wagon has some body damage. Passenger rear door dented from parking lot fender bender still opens and closes fine, front driver fender has been replaced from neighbor backing into it and rattle canned black. All in all, not bad though.
Pretty happy with the trade. Hopefully it won't take much to get one or both of them running. Maybe have some fun with one or both of them since we have 3 running vehicles. Neighbors probably hate me, but hopefully they'll get past it.

Will try to post some more detailed pictures once I start getting into them.

Oh man, that 242 is awesome. Details on the van? I love vans.

Van was the little astro cargo van in the background of the pic mostly of the wagon. I had sold my 88 245 to buy the astro to work out of, but since we've had a baby and I'm full time stay at home dad the van was just being used as storage pretty much for my tools. Which if I do get side work, it isn't the van that's important it's the tools... I'll get them where they need to go.

Slow240 came over and brought his buffer with him and we did a lil polishing on the 242. Looks a lot better already.

Outside of that, no real update. I think the 242 is going to take less to get on the road than the 245 is. Put a battery in the 245 and turned the engine over, it didn't start (not that I was expecting it to) but since then it's been leaking in my driveway. So rather than chase down every single leak I'm leaning towards freshening this block I have up for it and maybe a few other additions.

Those Hydras look so good on that 245. Does it have spacers?

No spacers

Edit: I think it just looks good because it's a black wagon. Someone else has pointed out to me how hydras and black wagons go well together. I think it's the color. I never particularly cared for hydras on 240's until I saw this one.

Really nice looking 242, hopefully you can get it running without too much trouble. That paint freshened up really nice and no rust at all, at least not visible. My buddy had an '81 242 years ago, but the rockers were eaten up by rust (car lived in PA and then northern VA for the first 20 years of its life).

I wonder how the hydras would look on it, but I'm not sure how well they'd play with the butterscotch paint...

there are some rust spots. Passenger side door got scraped by something and it's got a thin straight line of rust, some other small spots here and there but it looks very solid overall. Has some rust under the battery tray that I plan to try to clean up soon.

Edit: I had originally just assumed it was Carlsbad yellow, but the paint code on it is 152-2 which from what I've found is just "light yellow" but the "-2" in the code means medium? I'm not sure. Medium light yellow maybe? Whereas the Carlsbad yellow I think was 128 and described as "Carlsbad yellow/medium yellow"

The #2 is the paint supplier in this case Herberts AG, brandname Standox. Taken over in 1998 by DuPont and also known as DPC (DuPont Performance Coatings).

Nice snatch! I saw a 242 at an auction house up here in DE a few year back that like great from the road! My wife, who I was dating at the time refused to turn around! That wagon is my 1992's twin, door dent and all!
