And ugly. They are good for winter tires..... That's about it.

That may look ugly to you but that was the 80's brake ventilation dished front racing swag style wheel.

The biggest thing outside of the USA was the introduction of the B23E with 140hp ... but it wasn't emissions friendly so the USA got the same engine as every other K-Jet 242/4/5.

So the main stuff were the black interior trim with the orange piping, the O/D gearbox was standard & none of them were manufactured with an auto (even though Volvo Australia did trans-swap some to make automatics), they all came with alloys, they had lower & more performance-tuned springs/shocks, they had aircon & power-steering standard, they got a very 70's orange/black striping over silver paint (all were silver except for some special mods made by local distributors - like Volvo Canada selling some black ones). The early ones, I can't recall if it was until the 1978 model-year or 1979 model-year, had a bespoke vertical front chin spoiler & had no spare wheel well in the boot (hence had a space-saver spare), but from cars built from about mid 1979 they got the standard sedan boot-floor & full-sized spare.
The handling (in combination with the safety in all 200's - Benz hadn't jumped on that bandwagon yet) was probably the main thing that sold them, they compared pretty well to the likes of an E21 3-series according to magazine stories of the day; despite the solid rear axle.
